I'm clue less
hello guys im not a ford or flathead guy but i have a 41 sedan that i got on a trade and have been tinkering around with it trying to get it running after sitting 40 years, it runs now but i have a head scratching problem.
when i start and run the car for about 10-15 minutes the one vaccum line going from the base of the carb (not on the carb but right below) that goes to the distrib, is pouring fuel onto my points:eek:, the points will get wet and then the car will not start. I cant figure out why my distrib is pulling so much vaccum its sucking the fuel right out of the intake and taking it to my points. the car has sat for about 3-4 months because i cant figure this out. IM LEARNING :) any help would be appreciated, opps sorry, the motor is in a 41 but the heads say 59-ab carb has been rebuilt fuel pump rebuilt, new caps, coil, plugs, wires. Thanks guys!

That sounds backwards to me. The intake pulls vacuum not the dist.

thats what i thought man??? when u put your hand over the carb there is still some vaccum?? i dont know man im lost?
-
so no one knows why my flat head is sucking fuel from the carb base into the distrib???

Is the dist. ''downhill" from the vac. port on the intake on a flathead? If so, it is more likely draining into the dist. rather than the dist. sucking gas from the intake. ^I'd check what Denny said.^

cool im going to do all of that this weekend thanks guys!

What is said above the fuel is flowing down to the distributor not sucking from vacuum . Denny said it , to much fuel going into carb.
