Got info on the 429, translation please
Hey guys, I have got some more information on the engine in the truck, please convert from gearhead to newbie for me. I would like a bit more info on what I've got here and maybe a conservative idea of ponies we're dealing with.
Rochester CobraJet Quadra Jet (not sure the significance of it being a cobra jet carb, guy said they are hard to find. we're replacing it with a Holley Avenger 770)

It has Dove C Heads, but other than a note that they were rebuilt and stainless valves installed I have no idea what other work might have been done. he said they were ported and polished, but I doubt it was the kind of port job talked about here that nets 50-75 horses.
Also made a note that the motor was clearanced for hi-performance and to check oil often and use a straight 40 or 50 weight. what does "clearanced" mean?
Thanks for any interpretation guys. I've got more to post other places I guess on the non-engine stuff.

We managed to get a couple of other small things taken care of. One was blacking out the front of the core support. When the sun hit the front of the car just right that green paint on the core...
