identifying parts
broke down my 429 tonight, was wondering about a few parts,
pistons have D3SE and 429 stamped on them, they are aluminum, for some reason i thought they would be steel, rods have DOOE-A, is this just stock stuff ?.. planning on going back with either a 514 stroker or a over bore .30 460.

Pistons are aluminum. Good one's are forged, most factory one's are cast. Heads aren't anything special..Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

Stock parts.
With the D3VE heads that I presume you have (based on the piston part number) if you should rebuild as a 429 then I recommend flat top pistons so as to raise compression ratio to about 9:1. If you go 460 (only a cranksaft and piston change required), you will have a far greater selection of piston choices available to you.
For performance purposes, D3VE heads will require a great deal of reworking if used on a stroker engine. With more details about your inteneded build and desired hp, I'd be happy to make some parts suggestions.
