429 carb ?
I just bought a 69 Merc Marauder X-100 Is pure stock except for Performer RPM intake Is running a 600CFM Holley I,am new to Ford's have been GM for the last 40 years Pontiac & Buick. Trying to find out which Edelbrock carb is best suited for the 429 with that intake. I don't think 600 is enough The car itself is cherry as hell. Said to be one of 161 of 5600 X-100's still registered in the states. I would really appreciate the information. Thanks.

I run a 600 DP on my 429 on the street. Works fine. I know it'll take up to a 850
with my cam intake headers etc, but for the street it runs good from stoplight
to stoplight.A Ranchero is NOT an El Camino

shoprat nailed it. 600 for driveability on the street, 850 for max power.PLANET EARTH, INSANE ASYLUM FOR THE UNIVERSE.

Your original carburetor was a Holley 64-5332, 850 cfm. In the event you’re interested, this carb is still available (rebuilt) from Summit for $290.99
I would agree with the above postings however - the 600 cfm is probably very drivable however, the original Holley would give a great sound when you nail it!
