Was just told they're off a 1972 Lincoln, with a 460(didn't know Lincolns had/came with 460's) open chamber examples, and not good for a performance engine, if anyone wishes to confirm that.
Don't want this to sound like I'm beatin' up on you, but those open chamber heads are the worst heads that Ford ever made for the Lima motor. They only used them one year, then re-did the design to a more or less closed chamber (D3VE) where there could be some squish by the piston crown as it comes up against the bottom of the cylinder head. I seem to remember that Ford had to drop the static compression ratio down into the 7's to prevent the motor from detonating on the available pump gas. 1972/1973 was the pivot point for fuel. All there was available was cat-p1$$ low octane junk gasoline. The glorious years where you could buy Sunoco 260 at most any corner to fuel your 12.0:1 street motor were long gone.
