Hi, Anyone knows how mutch I have to mill the valve rocker arms pedestals to use the 68-71 std. rockerarms and screw in studs on D3VE heads?
I have to rebild the heads anyway and by new rocker arms, if I use the steel roller tip rockers with guide plates instead is the pedestals the same height as for the 68-71 rockers ?

i have cut them for studs .i think its about .230 on 68to 72 .then drill and tap for 7/16 studs
anything up to about a 1/4 inch will do if you`re gunna use adjustable poly lock type aftermarket rockers .. if using factory type positive stop stuff then you`d need exact numbers ..

Why are you milling the pedestals for the rocker stud conversion? How much hp are you shooting for and what camshaft profile?

Hi,I do a rebiuld of the engine and the heads, the stock D3VE valves and rockerarms are worn so I have to by new ones anyway so I think that I by "better" ones,
The camshaft will be a mild one I have not decided the profile yet(any rekomendation?),larger valves, Performer intake ,Holly 650 carb,the pistons vill be 0,30 TRW flat tops.
I think of it more like a tuning rather than shooting for a specific HP.

The OEM style stamped steel pedestal rockers should be perfectly fine in your application and with cams up to 0.550" lift.
Installing larger valves without the associated valve bowl and port work will help some but only a little.
