Help a Swede ID his engine!

Hi there everyone, Here you got a brand new Swede added to your forum.

I have been searching around at my "magic numbers" for a great time now, And i thought i´d just make this post instead.

All i´m interested in is a comlete and certain identification of my block, That should be a 390".

The numbers are as follows:

"C3AE 6015H" on the side of the block, And it doesent have crossbolts to the crank, The number on my crank is "C4AEB", and from what i can get out of the numbers on the crank, It´s used in both 390" and 427" FE´s.
And on the Rods, i dont know if i got it right but: "C1AE - CF10".

As said, The main issue is my block, What do i really have!?
Ofcourse the boresize could tell me the most i guess, But i´m just not an "inchman", Does anyone know the different sizes in millimeters perhaps? (Damn that must sound crazy for you guys "overthere")

The engine itself came out of my 1965 Galaxie 500XL, And it aint the original engine for this car.
The car is my replica of Curtis Turners 1965 #41 Galaxie of the Nascar series.

So, Could a fresh guy on these engines perhaps find a light here?

It's a 63 390 block. I think the "H" was the service replacment for the "E" PI 390 solid lifter block. I'll have to double check that. The "H" block is a hyd lifter block. When used as a PI replacement with solid cam the lifter galleys were blocked. It was kind of a dual purpose block. The C1-C rods are 390 rods also. Your correct on the crank info you found.

The datecode on the block is "3D10" so 1963 it is just as you said FFR428.

So your half Swede? Well look at that, How did that happen? :3dSMILE:

So, it´s a plain normal 390" then, Good to get that figured out..

It doesent have the usual "352" in the front, Just "10"
And in the back if the block theres one digit and it says "5"
And on a couple of places around the block, theres the digit "1"

Does this make it different in some way?

The engine was actually rebuild about 2 years ago, But as i intend to put a few goodies on it, It will get another round at the shop, And an overbore to make the CJ valves fit..

This will be added to my engine:

Edelbrock Performer RPM heads and a matching cam for these heads.
Crane "gold" roller rockers.
Holley Streetdominator intake.
Holley 750cfm carb.
Hooker supercomp headers.
Milodon oilpan and oilpickup.
And a 2.5" Or 3" exhaust, right out under the door..


This will be hooked up with a newbuilt C6 with a tuned +3000 Rpm stall converter, high performance bands, Shiftkit etc..

Hopefully the parts will play good together =)

And does anyone know how big overbore i will need to clear the CJ valves in a standard 4.05 block!?

Yes a nice block and a 63/April/10 production. Most of the early blocks don't have the 352 identifier on the front. Rest of the numbers are foundry ID numbers for molds and such. DIF is for the Dearborn Iron Foundry. Little things. That a nice build you have planned. Yes you'll need a bore notch to clear the CJ valves with a 4.05 bore.

Say Anders, I have heard some storys about guys sneaking out at 3 AM to drive their clones. Any how it sounds like a neat car. Send a pic.

Just a little thing, Will a 0.30 Overbore make enough room for the valves? Would be great to know..

Haha, My clone has made itself heard at night a few times since i got it on the streets.. People take notice, I´ll give my word on that =)
