What's available for FE in AOD transmissions?
I am in the process of working on my 1965 T-Bird. The engine is back from the machine shop waiting for me to assemble. This has the Cruise-o-matic trans in it. Does anyone have experience with an FE (390) and AOD conversion? Are there trannys that will bolt up? And then what about proper balance motor/torque converter/transmission? I thought quite a while about to rebuild or not rebuild the FE and had a 460 available but decided I wanted to stay with the FE! So now about the AOD?Smooth Rides are nice

keep the origional trans in it, saves time and money. if you need a new trans get a trans from a 1965 automatic mustang, this should bolt up and take out the guess work. You don't know what you've got til it's gone

I'd run a C6, but if you gotta have an od, check into a R4100, or maybe an add on od unit.Objects in the mirror are losing

Bendtsens in minnesota makes a adapter to put a AOD on a FE and adapters for alot of older motors,I dont have their website address but their number is 763-767-4480. The adapter is to put a smallblock AOD on the FE and another is made to use a GM trans also, there not cheap but I am seriously considering one as I would like to overdrive my 65 country squire and use my 390.
