75 or 65
My sister just bought a 65 thunderbird that has a 390 in it.I read the intake and it says D5TE,I know this intake is out of a 75 truck. But what I wanted to know is I am going to check under the engine on the oil filter mount and see if the engine matches the intake. When I look under there how do I tell if this a 75 or a 65?If I am right don't the 70 model FE blocks have to littel dots under the year.Like if it is a 75 it will have to littel dots under the 5,I want to find out if the engine is original for 65 with a wrong intake or is the whole thing out of a 75 truck. Also is the motor mounts, are they the same in every vehicle that has a FE block, probably not but just wondering. Thanks Dave

Check the casting number on the block, see what it is. Denny gave you some good break down resources....Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

Dave yes the blocks date code will have 2 dots under the 5 if it's a 75 casting. Also the casting number if the block has one will shed some light on the subject.

Okay thanks FFR428,I thought that I read before that you told somebody else that. That is how I remembered, but wasn't 100% shore on it.Thanks alot for helping me out.Dave.
You're welcome Mike, glad it worked out for you. Roger, it's taken a few years but my inventory of excess parts has shrunk a fair bit from 1 1/2 garage stalls to about an eight by eight space. ...
