I have watched the tests three times now.
I would say the 426 Hemi is over rated by a min.of 200 hp. in other words I would say it would be much closer to the 600 hp area.
I think the FE would be closer to the 575 hp,I think it would take a huge mech. cam to even come close to the 637 area and I think it would be at a much higher rpm.
The Hemi was done up big time. I found the post on a Mopar Forum and all the guys there knew it too. And the guy who built the motor even said so!!!
As for the 427 Tunnel-Port. That would be about right (575-600HP). Remember it was an over the counter Engine and never came in a car!!! Also It could be a Ford part# C8AX-6250-D cam. Its a Mechanical with .600" lift with a Duration @ 330 In & Ex.

Denny W if you ever want to sell that 422 FE . Let me know I would like to run it in my 1965 Mustang with a C6 . I have a 9" rear end with a 3.89 gear . I think I would go up to a 4.33 gear . With this set up my car will fly :) Here are some more 600+ HP-FE Photos COOL ;)

Not Denny but yes it is. The SOHC was based on the 427 sideoiler block for which it was designed. It's pretty much the King Daddy of the FE's.
It 's sure a big Daddy in that old Mustang ? :eek:

Dave what size is this FE ? What did you do to the heads are they full ported ? What kind of C/R will it have ? COOL That's not an FE that a 385 429/460 Tell us about it ?
Not an FE, that's a mid 80's 460 EFI long block with the intake that I used to run on my 514 set on it for mockup purposes.

Yeah, it was. That intake is for the old style heads..... The newer style heads use a different design intake, much lower, and even with a single carb will allegedly make more power!!!!!! We went back to Super Gas and now run a 501 cube with some ported and flowed Edelbrock heads, single Dominator and a solid lifter cam. Puts 500 horse to the ground and runs 9.90's The intake in the picture was on the engine in the Super Comp car.....Sold the car, kept the engine.....
At work we have a 1994 Ford truck that has the 7.0 ? Ford EFI engine . When I order parts for it the ford guy said it's a 429 . That engine pulls real good .

Plenty of room for a motor plate ,dry sump and a pro charger ,big headers,.......its not like I have drooled over that mustchero or even went thru engine options on it.......:o

Didn't know anyone liked FE engines here! This is an aluminum block and heads, billet stoker, 496", 427 side oiler. Dynoed 717 hp at 6500 rpm with 680 ft lbs of torque at 4600 rpm. Not bad for naturally asperated!
Very nice setup!!!!--and some very strong numbers, too! Yeah, there's a few of us FE fans around here....
