I agree 100%. Steel plugs rot out after time. Hopefully that's the case.They do sell those expandable rubber plugs you can use as a quick repair. To see then if it still leaks. As far as a crack goes it's possible. Is there antifreeze in it? What mix? Has it had a chance to freeze? I know your in the south but there has been colds snaps everywhere at times. The Galaxie should have enough room to easily fix and get at it.
