428 Fan bolts
Hi,
I am trying to trace down some fan bolts that are appropriate for a 1970 428 PI. I have one that is in poor condition, it appears to be a 5/16" fine thread and about 3.25" long. I am having a hard time trying to find this size commercially. Any chance anyone has a source?
TIA

Most any hardware store or parts store with a bolt bin....Nothing real uncommon about them, they might have been Grade 8 bolts....
Fastenal or most any other hardware supply place on line or real store should have them.....Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

I wouldn't go any less than grade 8 on those..I remember when hot rods were all home made.

The 3 1/4 won't be in a hdwr store. Go to McMaster-Carr they have them.

Can't exclude all hardware stores.... Our Ace Hardware in a little town of 6500 people has a great bolt assortment, Grade 5, Grade 8, and a good selection of popular stainless sizes..... all in standard and metric.... Depends on who owns and or manages the place......
I'd do some looking locally, by the time you order four bolts and pay freight, they're going to be kind of expensive....Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

Here they are at Summit: http://www.summitracing.com/search/P...word=ARP+bolts
They come in 5 packs - 4 to use plus one to replace the one you can't find
Our ACE has a pretty good stock, but not at that levelDave W

I did that because poster was from Elmhurst--but I see by his activity he hasn't been back since he posted.

Yes they do but you will have to wait a few minutes for someone to pull your order and get it up---there are self service computer stations where you enter the order , BUT, it is quicker to order it for will call.
I didn't know him but followed his posts. True hotrodder, he will be missed. RIP 34_40 MIKE. Condolence to the Mrs. Nolan
