mercury fe ??
i have a 428 out of a 1968 merc marauder(auto. trans also). am going to install in a 69 2whl drive pickup. the air filter housing has SUPER MARAUDER 428 4V in gold letters. is this thing merc. version of fords 428? was it sold to merc. division for installation in these cars? what kind of hp does this thing have? any info. on this engine,trans., combo. torque figures etc.

Marauder Info
I don't keep much on the Mercury engines but these are some web sites to review...They don't list a Matauder for 1968 though???

Merc 428 FE
Yeap it is the same thing as the Ford Galaxy 7 Litre engine. Merc stopped using the MEL (Mercury/Edsel/Lincoln) Motors in 1961. After that they used the standard available Ford Motors. No it was not sold lto them just given to them. After all they are the FoMoCo Corporation.
We managed to get a couple of other small things taken care of. One was blacking out the front of the core support. When the sun hit the front of the car just right that green paint on the core...
