Ignition timing has nothing to do with valve lift Denny.
Depending on cam timing, at some point in setting the initial timing at the crank, you may have to put in so much timing that the motor will kick back against the starter. You can't just set the timing so that there is no kick-back and expect it to be good. The motor may want more initial timing than that to operate correctly with the new cam.
This is my final post on this subject with you. I seem always to be dragged into an ongoing argument with you over these types of subjects and I've grown a little weary of it. You do as you wish and say what you want to and I'll do the same.
