bolting on the intake
ok so i've got a 69 302h.o. that i just had the works done to including port and polish... and i'm bolting up my new rpm air gap manifold... using the bolts that i used last time for putting my intake on.... one is too short and just will not grab the threads in the head... that right there is odd... but anyways... so like most people would do... i go thru my boxes of bolts and find one about an 8th of an inch longer, its got grade8 markings on top.... i'm putting it in and at 24lbs of torque... it snaps off inside.... any tricks to getting that out... prefferably without removing the intake manifold??just because your car is faster, doesn't mean i cant outdrive you... give me a curvy mountain road and i'll beat you any day

If it's bottomed out in the hole, you're going to have to go the EZ-Out route. Just realize, the ezout is smaller in diameter than the bolt that broke off at 24 ft lbs, so it will be very close to breaking off as you loosen that bolt.

Is the head Al or Cast? If Al is it KEENSERTED or HELICOILED?
Incremental approach is best if done properly. Start with an EZ-out but be careful to drill the hole in the center of the bolt in case you have to drill it out completely and re-tap.

its cast, and its helicoiled... and i'm pretty pissed off at the shop that did my heads now... cause the helicoils all look f***ed up to a large extent.... now i gotta pull my motor again to take the heads off and pay someone else to do it right...just because your car is faster, doesn't mean i cant outdrive you... give me a curvy mountain road and i'll beat you any day
Visited a family member at Dockery Ford from the time I was 1 year old through their ownership and then ownership change to Morristown Ford. Dockery was a major player in the Hi Performance...
