I'm giving some serious consideration to springing the big bucks for a Dart aluminum Windsor block.....Anybody got any experience or opinions on aluminum blocks on the street?????
Less frontal weight (aluminum block and heads) should equate to more neutral handling and close to 55/45 weight distribution, and a lower CG, right??
1 of my friends spent the big money and bought the 4bolt main dart aluminum 302 block.... expensive... but hasn't had anyproblems.... i believe dart puts steel shanks with threads in to eliminate the whole stripping the aluminum threads
my big block chevy over 630+ cid the block is 110 bare and the engine is 450 of intake to pan .i have not had any thing bad to say about mine. but it take a very long time to get it up to temp
Any long distance cruising on it yet, Pat???? When we used them years ago in the sprinters, we used an oil pan heater on them to get some temp quicker. With methanol on a cool evening, was tough to get the thing to 190!!!!
i have run it more that 30 miles one way and have put 60 miles on it at one time have had it for 3 years i was thinking of a pan heater but no room. i think i could run it longer but i worry about my valve springs:whacked:
