True, loose grounds are pretty bad but maybe not as bad as worms in your paint....

I wired both the fuel pump & sending unit through a 4 pin connector back at the tank so it would be easier to disconnect for tank removal. During this process I also figured out my multi-meter tester had gone bad. It's hard to diagnose a problem with a defective tool! Once I figured out the sending unit actually works, I had to look more closely at all the connectors. The flaw was subtle but seemed to be the only weak link.

Funny how it doesn't matter how many "do-overs" are required to fix something, it's still kinda rewarding to turn on the key and see it work!!
