More good news!!! Think my lawyer and his partner are going to jump in this Bonneville stuff, too!!!! Uncle Bob should be relieved tonight that if his crew supervision fails, we will have legal counsel on site!!!!!!

Looks like I'm back to being "the kid" on this adventure! My driver is all excited about being a rookie again, at the age of 76! The guy doing the flow work and tweaking on the heads will be 78 this fall and I'll be 62 in November! Back at the start of my circle burner racing, I was 15 and the whole crew was 30 and up!!! Deja Vu all over again!!!!

Yup, got some of the information, still waiting for my rule book and classification guide, however! Figured it'd be a good thing to have in hand before I start on the chassis!
Also started fabbing up a new front suspension fixture that I can check bump steer, caster/camber, toe-in, and caster/camber gain in travel while everything is on the turnplates.... When everything is roughed in on the chassis and suspension, I have a friend with a 4 wheel alignment laser rack to do the final tweaking....
Now if I just knew a bit more about aerodynamics!!!! Front sheetmetal on a '57 Chevy probably needs some "adjustment" to get through the air decent!!!

I was through Wendover twice this year. I can recommend the Quality Inn there as a decent place to stay with reasonable prices, reserve early! My little red car is more comfortable on a drag strip, but might like to come along to watch.

Yeah, but the '57 is so long (115") it's just too much!!! I can make the front end work fine with a 108" to 110" wheelbase. Besides the car isn't just for B-Ville, it's gotta be streetable, and will probably hit the dragstrip a couple times, and maybe the Texas Mile! Main reason was I just wanted to get the distance between wheels down a bit to keep from having to add extra crossmembers (weight), and be able to do something with those oversize air grabbing wheel wells!!!!! Now to get the rear wheel opening to be complimentary to the fronts, some ideas there too that I'm still kickin' around......
As for Uncle Bob's Bevy of Beauties, sometimes you do have to add ballast to make class!!!!! That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!!!!!;);)

On second thought, B-Ville probably wouldn't be my choice for a CHR get together.... Not much to do other then race!!!! Shade is at a premium, and the salt is HOT!!!! Someplace a bit more centralized and a bit more conducive to lounging around and showing cars might be a better choice for a locale! A nice area with a drag strip and a road course nearby would be a blast, and probably something more centrally located in the country----like maybe Topeka????

NHRA will be in Topeka May 17-19 and I understand they run the drags most Sat. nights. There is a road course there, but I don't know much about it. Roger Spears lives in Gardner, KS which is a little southwest of KC. I don't think the May date is very good as all of the motels will be booked for the Nats.
Nope, not teasing!!! Awhile back Roger put up a pic of the new road course being built at Kansas Speedway, and they also have a dragstrip!!! It's an infield course on the NASCAR track, not sure they will have such a thing as open track day...... I've made some laps at the one by Council Bluffs, Ia., great track and loads of fun===but no dragstrip nearby and I don't believe there's much road race interest here on CHR.......Quote:
