57 Chevy Cruizer

Thanks guys! I guess if someone "insists" it has to be a gasser they can just come by, drop off a large amount of cash and take the car home and build it!!!!!:LOL::LOL::LOL:

So anyway, being one who can never leave stock alone I had to make some changes in the dash. I cut out the OEM stuff and replaced it with .030" aluminum glued to the brackets I built. Just covered the seams and put a light coat of primer on it for now, still have to decide on the method and place for gauge placement and I'll be doing a bunch of changes on the windshield frame in order to flush mount it.

Dash looks good, Dave. The main reason I wanted you to build this one as a gasser is because I want one and was living vicariously through you.:D But it will be cool no matter how you build it.

Thanks gang, now it's time to get the Plymouth finished up so I'll have more time and room to spend on my own stuff... Found an engine and transmission for the 'maro so I've got to make room for it in the garage and start building some mounts and headers.. I miss everything about my big shop except the headaches and payments!!!!!:LOL::LOL:
Wish I had more room, but I guess I'll make do with what I have... Should be able to sneak in enough time on the '57 to get the quarter panels glued on and set the body back on the frame, anyway. That should be enough motivation to get the other stuff done and out of the way!!!!

Put in a bit more time on the '57, mainly on the dash. On an earlier post I mentioned fabricating some gauge pods. Charlie and a few others had some great ideas and input, so here's what I came up with. Oh yeah, decided I couldn't leave the stock instrument panel alone either. The '57 Chevy fans will pick up on the mod quickly.

The original instrument panel will have a 2 1/16" fuel level gauge and a voltmeter and a 5" tach. The 3 gauge pods will be for oil pressure, water temperature, and oil temperature.

Thanks Steve, lots of tedious and time consuming work to do but if I do a small project on it once in awhile it doesn't seem as bad as trying to do them all at once!

No speedometer?:confused:

OOps, you're right Jim---I meant to say a 5" speedometer in the original dash and a 5" tach with shift light on the dash.

Dave-I missed the part when you down sized to a smaller shop.:confused:

Dash is looking very nice Mr dave.... Here my old 57 I did a few years back and sold it...:CRY:
I really miss my 57... I bought this car when I was 19yrs old and never finished it and sold it... 20 yrs later I got it back and this is how I sold it this time... I can't believe I let it go again...:CRY:

Good looking '57, and you let it get away twice!! Oh well, you can always build another one sometime. The only time I regret selling a car is when it goes to somebody who locks the car away and doesn't ever bring it out for shows or cruizin'. Other then that I have no regrets selling any of my cars, by the time I'm done with one build I have so many plans in my head for the next one.....
