Maybe i need to step up to some insulating tape :LOL:
duct tape fixes everything!
:lol::lol::lol:
I made up a light gauge framework that bolts to the firewall to mount the dash and column mount, this allowed me to get my column mount finished.
Left it out overnight and it rained so started rusting in just a few hours No problem as it will get blasted and powder coated.

The dash needs trimming as its well oversize but it looks promising. it needs a little blending and fettling on the ends as its not a 41 dash.

I don't know.I can't put my finger on it.Seems the column is short or the wheel is aways away from the dash.Maybe it's the picture angle.It does seem like the proportion isn't right.
I trhink it just goes through the floor and not the firewall Gary! Makes it look funny in relation to dash. Then again maybe it's not finished yet so it's hanging there! :)
Goes through the bottom of the firewall Steve, 3" up from the floor, remember my firewall is set back a fair way and the seats are back as well, its nice and comfortable.
My panel truck was like that too. I sat back further than stock & the engine was set back making the firewall flat up against the back of the dash. The main thing is the steering wheel ends up in a comfortable position in relation to the driver.
Its a fairly deep dish wheel Gary, maybe that is throwing your eye ???
From Post 272 the location of the wheel looks just right, provided you can see the column and wheel past the glare....:eek::LOL::LOL:

Sorry Steve, could not resist the temptation.;)
Don't worry its all being noted and i will get you and Don back later :LOL::LOL::LOL:
I want one BAD !!!!!!!! :D That all looks so clean, Steve. The steering column in my 27 is a little longer than I would like (asthetically) but it had to be where it is for comfort and knee room. Anytime you put 10 pounds of something in a 5 pound bag you have to make adjustments to be usable.

Heck Steve,have you finally ran out of stainless in your bottomless scrape bin???Not like you not to use stainless,oh yeah,that's right,this is a quick put together car like they did in the old days. I shall not mention your legs as I wish to remain on your xmas card list,but I like how you are sitting back into the car,reminds me of that movie "Hot Rod". That is where a driver should be sitting in a gasser Willy's.:)
I had to lean forward to see out the door glass of my panel truck. People usta' say it looked like there wasn't anybody driving it when I'd cruise around. Engine was set back 12" so, everything else was too.
The Willys is gonna' B cool.
Don't let them razz you about them knees, Steve. They were good enough to score a cutie like Sue ! :cool::D
