Not running a speedo in the car!
Im using an auto meter monster tach that i cut apart and printing my own face plate for it to match the quad gauge so it will just be a tach. no real need for a speedo but the way i will print the gauge face at first glance it will apear as a speedo instead of 1 it will 10 etc.
Running fenderwell headers now not alot of bends in them.
Also with a 3" magnaflow exaust.
But been talking with a guy that can build me a nice stepped header eventually so those will be here in tot near future.

anybody else notice the similarities between the speedo housing and superman logo? with the big meats and stout engine, im thinking its more than a coincidence.
Make sure you get the proper D port flanges
Thanks for the input guys.
Picked up new battery the other day!
Billet specialties mount on the way.
I have a frenched antenna molded into the the top if the driver side rear wheel well. and instead of running an antenna its going to be a push and pull shut off and will apeear like an antenna and you'll not even know but the rod will come inside the trunk right behind the battery where switch will be hidden.

Ill keep you updated!
Glad to hear it.
Bring on the pics.
Heck that must of been a buzz firing up the engine for the first time. I am looking forward to seeing updates and sorry, I'm being a wee bit impatient on seeing it all painted as you have done an absolutely brilliant job on the whole car.

Looking' smooth and clean! Forgot how big those tanks are, many, many moons ago had Buick's version of a Fleetline, did it up with a J-2 Olds engine, trans, and rear end. Never did "finish" the car, just got it running and driving decent and pounded on it severely!!!! Finally crashed the thing and moved on to other projects----What can I say, I was a kid and both the car and the donor car were freebies!!!!:LOL::LOL:
I have to say i cant count the people whos first impression is wow that car is hugeeee!
Reality! car weights 3,100lbs full of fluids ready to roll off the show room floor in 1948 thats 18 pounds more than a 1970 SB nova lol
So hopefully alot more people thing its a True "FAT" fender car lol when they wanna try and keep up with it lol
And this car i have on a diet no heater, radio a/c aluminun heads SB with many aluminun components so i think the car should come in pretty nice weight for good power to weight ratio,

Details, details, details...I'm doing the same type work on the '57. Work all day and it doesn't look like you did anything!!!!!!
I hate rust repair
It's like I keep telling people Charlie, if it was easy everyone would be doing it!!!!!:LOL: Rusted panels and pieces is just another opportunity to improve things from the way the factory did it!
Thanks for the reply guys!
Only way to get it done is just get at it!
My trunk was in relatively good shape not much in the way of rust but it looks like it was tweaked a lil like someone bumped the corner into something.
But really wanted to finish the trunk like the hood!
Heres a few of the hood and the ram air i built for it!
i built a scoop behind the grille angled down a lil to catch fesh air and it shoots up a tube i built and exits out from this tri five style bird i built and shoots frah air into the air cleaner directly!
Seems to work well with just air gun at 60mph should work even better lol
And your right do all this work and nobody even see's it but its nice to see them all start to come together as one!
Thanks i'll keep you guys posted as long as you dont mind photos lol.
Later George

Really nice work, George!!!! Seems we tend to spend a lot of time on the things nobody notices but it does add to the quality and detail of the entire project. Heck, admit it!!!! Sometimes it's fun to put detail work into components just wondering if anyone ever will notice!!!!!!:LOL:
Very true!
Like i mentioned before i call it cleaning up the ugly, just the lil things that look nice adjusted or changed minorly like i flipped my bumpers and sectioned the rear one and moved them closer to the body!
to me loooooook so much better but took 3 weeks to do had to fab new valance panels and bumper brackets etc.
Yeh it's close! Under 1/2"
All welded up ready to start smoothing!
Deffantly alot smoother looking than before!
