I got the front pieces all tacked in place.
This was in February of last year.

After getting to this point I realized I needed a chassis to hold up the new front clip....
Some really first rate metal work, and a way big improvement in the look of the front end!!!! Very well planned and executed, congrats!

Wow, what a difference! I'm envious of your metal skills - you're doing some fantastic pieces there. For us who are not experienced in that area, what were the tools of the process? Sandbag & rubber shaping hammer? English Wheel?
Way to make some very impressive improvements. You have some mad metalworking skills.
Some great sheet metal work as said . You are doing some great reforming and the look is outstanding making such a big change in the front view . What have you got for the plans in the back ?? So its year 4 of 10 don't look like you be that long getting it completed at all .Quote:

FOR ANYONE CONTEMPLATING USING STAINLESS FOR A CHASSIS, PLEASE ONLY DO SO ON A NON DRIVING SHOW CAR AS IT WILL WORK HARDEN WHEN DRIVING AND BECOME BRITTLE. THE STAINLESS ITSELF MAY CRACK, NOT JUST THE WELDS.
THIS CHASSIS WILL BE SCRAPPED WHEN I GET BACK TO THE BUILD LATER.
I started looking around for parts as I was working on the metal.
I came across an 04 Cobra IRS setup and had to have it.
3.55 posi.

There was a couple of spare pieces of 4x4x .100 wall stainless tubing laying around a friend's shop so I started with those.
The back rail is 2x4x.120 wall.

You do have a sight for something working together like the 40's Willy's grille and the shape you have placed in the front . . You know I can patch and some ,but this metal shaping you guys do is outstanding . keep up the pics 123 .Quote:

Then it was time to make up control arm mounting brackets which allowed me to cut away all of the original stock IRS carrier frame.

I drilled out the trunk floor to make space for the rear frame rails.
Things get out of control quickly when you decide to go custom, don't they.:eek:
A new trunk floor will need to be made up.
