I agree with everything Glenn said, especially that part about the little princess. We have two little grand daughter's with the gaggle of boys (5), and I can imagine them doing the same thing before long... Glad to see you getting the thread current, and looking forward to the next installment. I'm amazed with your abilities with the diesels!

The conversion is working out great Ryan, very nice work!!!

I haven't spent much time working on this lately. Every time I get to it other things arise. Hopefully next week I can hit it hard and at least get it running. Here's some progress though. I replaced both the air bags and the crash sensor. I had to repair the lower cover on the steering wheel because when the air bag blew, it broke it. I also rebuilt the turbo and painted the exhaust manifold, bolts and spacers, and installed it all. I also painted the down pipe before I put the turbo back on. I ordered a double deep trans pan and installed it, and cleaned the rust off my injection lines. Primed them with self etching primer and painted them with some chemical resistant VHT paint. I also started installing some step tubes I've had for another project. I also got the heater hoses rerouted and hooked up. This thing has rear a/c and heat so it was kind of tricky. They'll fit on here just fine for now. :)

That big Cummins really fits in there nice Ryan! Did it take up more or less room then the original engine???
-
Well, the old v10 took up all side to side area in the engine compartment, and now the cummins has more front to rear area it eats up. But overall I think the cummins still fits in it better than in the dodge they were put in.
-
I keep getting pulled off this project so it's taking way longer than I'd like. But, what do you do? I've gotten the fuel lines ran and got the injection lines back on. I still have to add protective covering in areas and secure some of the fuel lines. I installed a pro comp black pump on the LH frame rail for the lift pump. I have to wire the pump, put fuel in the tank, and prime the system. I also repainted my turbo compressor cover as the red just didn't do it for me. I'm going to be painting some items under the hood body color. I think it looks much better. I also installed a new belt tensioner and had a fiasco with my new a/c compressor. I finally got a non damaged one and installed it.

I'd like to start the engine this weekend but we'll see how other things go. I've still got a decent amount of work left to do to it, and I'm switching the front over to an 05 style as well.

Gettin' close now! Keep it up, it should work out great!!
-
Looking great Ryan!!!! If things keep going as planned, I MIGHT get to work on my own stuff next month!!!!! Hope you get the time to finish it up, anxious to hear how things work out!

I didn't have room for the air filter so I moved the vacuum reservoir and added another vacuum reservoir on the LH side behind the battery tray. I'm trying to get the other intercooler pipe painted. I've already painted the RH one, the elbow for the turbo, the intake horn and grid heater too.

Your doing great with this one. I find it much harder to work on my reg. dayly car

Thanks Bat. Yes sir, I know what you mean. I'd like to get everything done on this before I pull it out of the shop. The list never gets smaller it seems though.

I've been working on it when I can get the spare time. I'm working on eliminating un-needed wiring from the V10, I also need to move the speed control servo from the RH side to the LH side. I got in an F-550 that I have to basically restore, and all the V10 stuff is parts or scrap. So, today I got the missing A/C harness and a plastic wire cover that I broke when I installed my engine for the second time.

I made all the battery cables, positive and negative, and also made a ground cable to go from the engine to the frame.

Here's the second pile of scrap connectors and wire I removed from the stock V10 harness.

Here's what I'm left with. The oil pressure sender wire, coolant temp sender wires, crankshaft position wires, and the old coil power wire which I plan to use for key on injection pump power. The A/C is all in the truck harness which is kind of odd.

Here's the loom cover/holder I got and cleaned it up and painted it with trim paint.

I got my fan blade cleaned up and painted as well.

Gonna be pretty slick, Ryan! How about a couple of pictures from the same angle as you used for the V10 views for comparison?
-
Roger, sure can. When I get it all back together I will.
Yesterday I did more searching and found the source of my no power to my starter solenoid. When the tcase exploded and the driveshaft smacked the frame, it cut half the wires to the neutral safety switch. I repaired them to check the starter operation. It works! Sweet! Now to seperate the wiring for the 4x4 ranges, and shorten the wiring to make a clean install. I also started removing the harness that goes across the top of the fire wall so I can move the speed control assy to the LH side. I've got that about half way done.

I've been working on the wiring on this beast. I got the lift pump wired up, oil pressure gauge, water temp gauge, fuel shut off solenoid wired, cruise servo moved and wired, and started wiring the ford external voltage regulator. I have the cruise all hooked up and the throttle cable is hooked up as well. I have to hook up the TV pressure cable and add some return springs on the linkage. I'm having some issues getting the lift pump to pull fuel from the tank. I may have to remove the line and help it out. I'm still waiting to hear on my A/C lines, and I'm waiting on some wiring connectors so I can finish up the wiring.
