Door Panel? Look at the first one shown on the Roadster show thread.
Yes Ryan that is the plan. I'm sick of build build build. I want to drive drive drive. With 2 completed cars in the garage I can finally get rid of a ton of crap (because most of it will be going with the sale of the 33 chevy). Happy dance! The way I see it I'm saving 2 years of build time and more than a few dollars plus we get to have fun right away. To me thats a win win win! Just seeing the look on my sweeties face I knew I made the right choice. I can see it now come spring time. {I have to go to the post office I'm taking the 32} 20 minutes after she gets home {I have to go to the drug store} then { do you need anything at homedepot?} then it will be car shows on the weekends and just for a drive to get a burger. Hell I don't care so long as she takes me with her!
I have to find out more about her front end setup. I think it's a P&J super stopper kit but I'm not 100% sure.

Okay so I have a real good buddy that has a posi center chuck and he drops it off today. I jack her up and pull the wheels and axles. I get under there and find out...It's a 9"! So I call him up and he says "pull it anyway I have a 9" posi too with the same gears and I think I even have a gasket too". So there is my daughter Amber holding the pan under the ass end to catch the grease, I pulled out all the nuts, and the wife is manning the jack. I don't have 4' jack stands so I can't get fully under the car...LOL It took some work to break the seal but we got it. It's out and no one got hurt. So not only is her car done and running but she has more HP and a 9" posi (mines an 8") with 31 spline axles (mine has 28 spline). The reason for all this was the rear was leaking and I needed to change the gasket anyway so my buddy figured it was the perfect time to go posi. We are going from 3:50 to 3:80 ratio so it will be a little snottier out of the hole. She's gonna love it.
It looks like a P&J Super Stopper to me. The hub shape is spot on. I was a bit concerned about the thickness of the disc, but I found out that the SS kits come with 3/8" solid or 1" vented discs.
Look what the hot rod gods left at my house yesterday... What; doesn't everyone have a 9" posi center section sitting in their living room??? Chrome coil-over shocks, 40 ford steering wheel, and a lokar shifter all sitting on the kitchen table. Not to mention the 1/2 gallon of washington blue paint and reducer sitting in the corner. Man I have parts and pieces stuffed everywhere. Thank god my sweetie likes cars too or I'd be in a $hitload of trouble.

I thought santyclaus was leaving that stuff at my house?!?!?!:LOL::HMMM:
Leave him cookies and beer, he'll come to your house first next year.
You guy's are killing me!
So the wife is worried that this is gonna turn into another "PROJECT". Just went down to the cave to turn on the heat. So I was just looking in the garage from the top of my stairs at everything all blown apart. And I think to myself....Nope no project here. I told her not to worry it's only 32 bolts. It'll be back together by Sunday noon the latest.

Usually the backing plates will stay on the t bolts------are the axles not attached with T bolts from the rear?
Those Moser bearings with built-in seals sure beat the heck out of the stock seals. Nice choice.
Most oem ford rears I've see or worked on the t bolt studs were a press fit from the rear-this most be a worked over rear housing --------
Everything on this car seems to be "high end" and worked over. For the time it was built someone spent some cash building it with some real quality parts. It's just strange that they stopped spending money when it came time for the interior. Unless the project was taken over by someone else at that point? Almost seems like two different people did the work. The basic layout and most of the parts are high end and well thought out but the final assembly looks like it was thrown together. Still well worth what I paid for it and it's little things that can be fixed. Plus it's an older build and a driver. I didn't want a show car anyway.
Looks like a beautiful car to me! As Don the 34 guy would probably say, "just needs a little dead cow"...
looks like 4 small nuts laying inside the brake drum?????????? undersized bolt/studs? No wonder backing plate is loose
My car has a new 9" housing from John's 9 inch factory. The T-bolts are 3/8"-24 and they are not a press fit, they are loose. Too bad the axles were not new. They were piece-of-junk salvage yard axles, shortened and resplined. The axles faces had 3-4 times the allowable face runout - about .015". That made the rotors have at least twice that much runout. New Currie axles fixed that - another $400 down the drain. The axle change did give me the newer SET 20 bearings that uses gear lube as the bearing lube. There is no longer a seal inside the housing to keep the lube away from the sealed bearings. The seals are now mounted at the outside face of the axle housing.

I have to figure out the brake shoes next. Anyone have any tips?
I have checked 7 different Ford housings plus several cut off ends laying around here and every one of them are 7/16---------
Please remember that not only do those bolts hold the axles in but the torque load from the rear brakes are exerting a shear load on those bolts
and the side loading from a turn/slide/etc are pulling on the axles against those bolts---------Please upgrade to the stock 7/16 size as a safety issue???
I don't see Currie or Strange selling 7/16" t-bolts for the Ford 9 inch rear. I see 3/8 and 1/2. Seems like 3/8" must be the stock size. The 1/2" would require redrilling the axle housing and backing plate.
FWIW, a Wilwood brake caliper only uses two 3/8" bolts to hold it in place.
If you do a little research, you'll find that the shear strength of a single 3/8" bolt can be almost 10,000 lbs. Even a low grade bolt can handle nearly 5,000 lbs.

Jim, nice new addition to the wife's rod!
It's been a while since I did anything on my 34. Just haven't felt up to since Mom passed. Well this past weekend I kicked myself in the ass and got at it again and it felt good to get something done. It's a small step but it is a step. With the help of my better half I installed the dash bracing and column drop. I still have to purdy it up a bit but it is solid as a rock and well on it's way. Next up installing the electrical panel and heater mounts. The column should just bolt in...(should) The wife is a big help on a lot of things like holding one side of the dash up while I fiddle with the other side and handing me tools while I'm under the car and a host of other things. I'd be lost without her sometimes.
