You guys are not understanding. It's not about higher or lower, it's about having the window sill and the top of the bed PARALLEL, like railroad tracks, only sideways. If you laid an angle finder on that image that you have posted and got the angle of the cab window sill and the angle of the top of the bed, they would not be the same angle. If you tilt the front of the bed up a little, or the rear of the bed down a little, then the window sill and the bed would be PARALLEL and would have FAR better eyeball than they do now. I must be mis-explaining this, maybe some of you other guys can help me out.

I see what you're saying now Tech. I misinterpreted what you said earlier.

Ok I get it. The bed isn't mounted yet so I'll keep that in mind when the time comes.

Why did you guys edit out the pictures on your posts? The pictures clearly illustrated Tech's concern.

Pictures are all still there.... The important thing is that this is all software, taking a photo of the truck, and superimposing it over the Explorer frame, not the body mounted and getting ready to roll. At least that's how I understand it.
Also, the amount of slant of the bed rail compared to the window line, and the gap difference top to bottom between the body and front of the bed is not that far off, to my eye. It should be pretty easy to get it dead on, once the mounts are being fabricated, seems to me.

Come on man. Much of your technical advice is very detailed, accurate, and spot on. But a lot of this stuff is a matter of personal opinion. This may be a shock to you, but your opinion is not the only one on the planet. :eek:

I don't know who owns the green truck picture I used, it was just for mock up. I used a photoshop program to stretch the top of the bed to see what it would look like if I raised my bed a couple inches.

I fail to see how it has gotten off topic, as the title of this thread is "Stude M5 Build". The EYEBALL of a project, is to me and thousands of other hot rod builders, one of the most important aspects of the build. If you disagree with what I have said here, then just tell me and I'll cease and desist making any sort of suggestions, the same as I did with Driver50X. My time, expertise and input have been valuable to hundreds, if not thousands of hot rodders all over the world for the past 15 years, but if you see no value in what I have to say, just let me know. I'm getting quite long in the tooth and so helping those who want and appreciate my help is far more important to me than dinkin' with those who don't.

If you're referring to the input from Driver50X, then perhaps you need to ask him to cease and desist making remarks like he did in post 162. I will not talk with him any more, but I have lifelong friends who will argue with him in my defense.

I just got caught up on this thread, Not really sure what all happened while I wasn't looking,but I had to double check Rita. I had the same concern when I mounted the box and it took a bit of doing to get it straight but I thing I think it turned out well. I ended up cutting the rear end loose and moving it back an inch also just to center the wheels better in the rear. I can be an anal butt sometimes.

Flawlessly engineered. Perfect eyeball. Good on ya, mate, NOBODY could do any better.

V8nutz, I only speak for myself, and I hope that you will continue to post updates on your build, and on other threads, too. You are doing some great work on a sweet little truck, IMO.
