Heehee, I checked out Iowa and the closest the get to this little berg is either Carroll, Des Moines or Council Bluffs.
We have to worry more about the IHP or the Cass County Sheriff's patrol trying to nail everyone for OMVI.
Iowa huh, way east side here.
had an OMVI check couple weeks back,
but i was on my way TO the bar...
Son-in-law got caught in a CB traffic light camera a couple of weeks ago. Ticket came in the mail. $65.00.Quote:

Key Findings on Speeds on Iowa’s Rural Expressways and Freeways
· The 85th percentile operating speeds have increased an average of 8.2 mph (from 61.6 to 69.8 mph) since the new speed limits went into effect in 1996. The 85th percentile speed is the speed 85 percent of vehicles travel at or below, and 15 percent of vehicles exceed. (Refer to page 5 for 85th Percentile speed details.)
· The 85th percentile operating speed in 2001 is 69.8 mph compared to 69.7 mph in 2000.
· In 2001, 46.8 percent of drivers were exceeding the 65 mph expressway speed limit, up from 31 percent in 1996 when the speed limit was increased to 65 mph. The percent exceeding the speed limit in 2000 was 50.4 percent. Prior to the speed limit increase, 71 percent of all drivers were exceeding the 55 mph speed limit. (Refer to Table 2 on page 6.)
· The percentile speeds also show that more drivers are complying with the 65 mph speed limits, when compared to compliance with the former 55 mph speed limit.
· In comparing Iowa speed data for the Interstate system with that of other states, the speeds are approximately the same as other states with 70 mph speed limits, but about 4 mph less than states with 75 mph speed limits.
Jack, even that article is a little old. It's now 70 on the interstates. When I go to Des Moines or Omaha on the I-80 I set my cruise at 75 and am still being passed by many drivers.
and on this side of the state the speed/red light camera tickets have been ruled unconstitutional/illegal. weird
they don't seem to pull you over in person unless you are going 10mph over the limit, unless it's a small city officer
be pretty difficult to track a xcountry trip the way this site is set up. be better if it could be access by route #'s.
have seen this post before.
Rule of thump: keep with the flow of traffic, slow when cresting hills or rounding curves, watch for brake lites, and if in a real hurry be sure someone is always moving faster then u. Which today is pretty easy ,just look for a soccer mom going to pic up the kids after shopping to long while talking on a cell phone telling her friends how much money she saved ate the mall.LOL,LOL
Wow, that's cheap! Have a traffic light camera flash at you around here and the damage is $371!!Quote:

Pat
Duane,
Wow. 70 MPH in EYE OH WAY. What's this world coming to?
Pat,
The "Invasion of Privacy" crowd got the red light cameras removed in VA last year. The cameras got put in a different legislative bill, and did and end run around those guys.
I'm for them too. The invasion of privacy argument doesn't work for me. When do someone have a right of privacy on a PUBLIC street while they're breaking the law? We had an epidemic of light runners too. This slowed them down last time, and it will do it again.
Jack, this site will give you the current speed limits by state and the date they were enacted. http://www.iihs.org/laws/state_laws/...imit_laws.html
