first scratch !!

:CRY: a customer and I were talking the other day about building cars and the topic came up about scratching or gougeing the first blemish in a new paint job, man what a depressing convo that turned into. turns out it happens quite a bit out there in the real world. I told him one about the guy I was working with years ago that was installing a dome light in the headliner with a power screwdriver.... turns out he should have checked the length of the screw !!! there I was standing outside of the car waiting to put in the rear seat and "pop" up comes a screw right through the roof. needless to say we both were quite speechless for a few momoents untill he realized just how bad it was then I think the speech became very broken french !! LOL :HMMM:

And the guy with the cordless drill and lack of common sense is still alive? WOW! When's his funeral? :LOL::LOL:

whats even funnier is this happened back when I lived in MESA !!!

Hey, them guys in Mesa are engine guru's!!!! The upholstery guys are in Iowa!!!! You guys are going to have to learn to quit doing each others work or I'm gonna tell the Union Steward!!!!!!:LOL: :LOL: :LOL: :LOL:

Bummer when it happens, but we all end up getting that first scratch, and yeah, it's usually from something dumb!!!!!! Still hate it when it happens!!!!

We used the last roll of duct tape to bind the Steward and put him in the closet. He get's out on Friday for the weekend and we put him back in the closet on Monday morning. :LOL::LOL::LOL:

yeah duct tape is a wonderful tool !! I've seen what it can do for a ripped seat !!! LOL

First scratch LOL reminds me of when I backed into a pole with my new 72' Chevelle less than a week old, left a little dent that you could hardly see, Man was I pissed. Same night a guy ran a red light and totaled the car. You couldn't find that dent LOL. At least my friends and I wasn't hurt much.

well that story truley sucks !! right up there with my 70 chevelle I had done back in the day !! I was sitting at a red light and saw a big a&& station wagon aming at me and the driver wasn't looking at all.... 35 mph dead stop pretty much took care of my pride and joy... but I atleast got to drive away. he was still stuck late PICKING UP HIS BOSS FROM THE AIRPORT !! hahaha

almost as soon as i finished buffing my car after i got it painted, a stress crack appeared right at the top on the left front fender. as the sun and rain did it's thing, it grew. back a couple months ago, i took off the fender to redo it. the very day i get done and get the fender back on, i head home in the car from my shop. 2 miles from the shop, i downshift as i approached a stop sign. at that moment, i see several shiny objects fly from the front of my car. before i had time to think about what it took be, the front end of my car dropped down. i eased off the side of the road, thankfully not turning much. i get out to see what was broken and perhaps vomit some. i could tell the front end was low, but i couldn't immediately see anything broken. i went back around to the side and noticed there are no lugs on the wheel, and the whole corner of the car is held up by the brake rotor which was rolling on the inside portion of the wheel. the lugs had come off, and the rotor had rolled on the rim for 100 feet or so without coming completely off. i guess the fender did just enough to keep it from flying off and there really being some damage. the only thing it did was crack the paint along the edge of the fender roll.

...and i found all five lugs in the ditch.

moral of the story: cars are a pain in the back side.
