On the 454 from what I was told .060 Max . The 369/402 and the truck blocks can go more . I did know a guy that made a 440ci out of a 427 BB . But today with all the stroker kits I am sure you can make a much larger engine out of a 396 .

3700 was all parts and machine work and the price to long block it with a roller and all new part put it on paper and get back to me you would be hard press to copy it for that:LOL: Tango who care s about a 455  he said a 402 and they cost abit more for pistons and stock parts would be less then a 496 and alot less cid and the very old tall decks could go over 100 over but not the newer mark 4 tall decks i would not go over 060 and if so it would need to be sonic checked. the 396 truck block are not any thicker then the car blocks the very old 65/67 396/375 hp blocks could go to 4.250+ bore you will have a very hard time finding one .i have bored old early 70s mark 4 454 080 +over before i would go that on a 396 and the 69 396/375 hp i would not go 060 on the one i hadQuote:

the hardest part is to put the big block in the chevy II i have done headers for them cars with big blocks in them but 11 should not be to hard in a small ligth car and could be done with a iron head 402 but i would like to see a 454 easier to find the tall deck just would be to hard to fit in the carQuote:

well that would be cool, as of right now the car is being kept at a realtives house till spring when i can do some cleaning and bring it home, but taking notes and learning and collecting parts will make it much easier when it comes home everything will be here at once. like i said, 11's are the goal for when i do wanna go tear it up but id also like it to be able to handle some decent road trips, can you do that on pump gas pat? i just dont know where to start. i keep referring to the older bbc's cause you know me, im a nostalgic :D

the 454 block with a 366/427 crank would be a good way to fly i know guy that have run in the 11s with the chevy II with about this size engine but you want to run pump gas i would build a flat top 468 454 pistons are EZ to find and better on price
well a bottle of octane boost wouldnt burn my spirits either  well when you put a 366 crank in a 454 whats that turn it into ? man i really need to do my homework, hey at least im willing to listenQuote:

Pat,I was looking at the old PBM catalog.
I think you can build a 496 for about $50 more than a 454.
How long do you think a set of hyper. pistons will last in a low 11 sec. car??
If Scooter had said low 12 sec. car I would say run the hypers. but in a low 11 sec. I am having my doubts.
