Loosing faith!!

Todays society seems based on jealousy. I'm better then you. I learned in life don't sweat small stuff. I quit awhile back going car shows. Everyone seems get into clicks. Use to go just have fun meet up with old friends. I was always taught to be leader not follower. I myself 45 years old grew up in gheto. Made something of myself today. Built my own house , garage and have own business. I'm dam proud of myself. People need worry about their self not neighbors. I lost best friend over this crap. He built a half million dollar house and know he thinks he better then me. People spend to much time whishing , dwelling they had what you have. Spend no time or effort to make it happen. It's nice to important but more important to be nice.

You guys have some great outlooks on things, thats why i love it here!!

It`s not really people at shows that really get me down (im 6 foot ,and covered in tattoo`s, and apparently mean looking) No one has ever made a remark in front of me, most at shows either loved my car, or just walked by, i think its just the whole car scene in general, and thinking about it some more, most of it is drama i allowed to get myself involved in. I also feel the forums have contributed to my negativity, i think im gonna step back from the others for awhile!!and just stick to here, like i started, ive never gotten any negative vibes from here.

I did get back in the garage last night, and that made me happy again, so i think im going to concentrate on my build, and family, and clear my life of the drama ,i have created, through the last ten years.

I did meet some new guys here in town the other weekend, that i met online, so it might be a change in a new direction, i never seen them at shows, cause they too got burned out, and stayed at home, so now we are working on get together plans, which might be fun, new car guys!

you are welcome. i just noticed that you live in jax. my hubby used to be stationed there at cecil field. would always go to a little local bar near the beach. any idea what the name of that place is? he said that it had a homey atmosphere. he was a corpsman with a squad that was stationed there and would cruise with the big E

what you dont get on this site is a slap in the face for an unpopular idea or dif of opinion.. i rarely speak up outside my own threads but when i do i sometimes offer unconventional remedies or alternative solutions to problems other members pose .. i have never paid for any kind of auto repair as i am somewhat able to fix things myself .. sometimes my fixes dont meet with the approval of " accepted " standards but sometimes one does`nt have mega bucks to throw at a cure .. i dont tell you what to do ... ..i tell you what i would do ..

I have been into cars since the mid 50's hotrods, antiques and back to hotrods you get this crape what every you are into. But if you talk to them for a minute. Most don't have a clue! So don't let it get you down. Remember the hotrod you build is you and only you! ( Do the best you can and to hell with what others think.)

I get the same thing when people ask if I built my car. I tell them I was fortunate enough to use some of my retirement money to buy one already finished. Every once in a while some idiot will come back with a line and say" "Well you're not a real "hot rodder" then!"

I come back and say "It's my car, it's safe, I think it's purty, it's paid for and most of all YOU AIN'T GOT ONE!!!!

Could care what other people think. I've always been like that and always will be. (Must be a Pittsburgh thing; right Don? (LOL)

Like many on this board, I'm a builder. I was building HP when there were no "Crate Engines", and most cams available were either full race or 3/4!!

I've fabricated more "stuff" than I care to remember, but always came up with something that worked.

Car enthusiasts have it easier (notice I didn't say easy) today than we did 50 years ago. That doesn't mean they aren't just as enthusiastic though.

We all, on occasion, run into the a--hole who knows everything and has a better whatever, because his wallet is fatter.

This board treats everyone with respect and if someone is in the position to "buy" there way in....more power to them.

The bums disappear soon enough when the next big "gotta have it" fad comes along.

I couldn't quit if I wanted to.

Sixty-two cars have passed through my hands and I'm still building.:D

Jgirl, i do know cecil feild, its now cecil commerce center, the city kicked the navy out, and took over it, as far as the bar at the beach, could be a number of them, the only place i know of thats been there along time is Gingers place, the rest come and go as fast as the tides.

What really, really hurts . . . . is that a '71 Monte is an antique. :LOL:

hotrod he does not remember the name of the bar. said that it is more inland near cecil. Henry when my car was built i was entering kindergarten in Gloucester. I am a guniea girl.
