I think we should start a new daily thread on the best rigged up design of the day. For example, I have been having an on-going battle with vapor locking. WELL, my wiper jets are clogged and dont work so i ran a series or vacuum hoses from the washer tank (5qt oil jug) to the mechanical fuel pump so if it starts sputtering i just hit the washer button a squirt water on the hot pump causing it to cool off....
Back in the late 60's I had a 1960 Buick that had a transmission converter
seal that was leaking a lot . The car had a torque tube to the rear end , that
ment to change the seal you had to pull the engine or the rear end and transmission . So I sealed the converter inspection cover with Permitex and
put a windsheld washer pump in it to pump the fluid back in to the filler tube.
Ran it like that for 2 years. And to think those were the good old days ??

I've thought about the same thing mounted in front of the radiator on a rig that has to pull hills with a heavy load. Just fog some water in front and the temp should plummet to whatever temp the thermostat dictates. :cool:Quote:

Richard, I did just that with a Jeep that overheated at low speeds when you stayed in low gear. The effect didnt last very long however, the sprayed water evaporated almost immediately....it ran the tank dry too fast. Using a garden hose was more efficient but it was hard to keep hooked up while driving down the road.
I know this has nothing to do with your problem but the windshield washer reminded me of something from my younger days.
When I was about 17 and living in PA (Had to be 21 to consume alcohol) my friend and I rigged up his windshield washer hoses to exit under the dash. We used to put Seagrams 7 and 7 Up in the tank and just push the button for a drink. We thought we were pretty slick since we didn't want to get caught with an open container in the car! Never got caught, we were pretty lucky! (Young N Dumb)

which reminds me.... a 57 chevy had the neat place in front of the radiator where you could put ice and beer and even had a drain hole for the water to drain out...and there was a place on the door latch to open a beer bottle....I bet there was never had that kind of engineering in jap crap cars!
