Fire

Glad your friend and hope alot went to safety . Can't believe the car burnt and the house behind looks untouched amazing pics .

Sure glad you helped your friends, and they got out safe. Now they must feel really bad for their friends, and neighbors that lost everything.

Those of us that think we should be at a place where the sun is always (or at least most of the time) shining do not realize at what cost. Mud slides, fires, quakes, plus the extremely high cost of living. It seems like there have been so many fires in the past few years on the west coast. As much as I like the warm weather I would have a hard time with the thought that a fire could come through so fast. I live in the woods tall pine trees, we took some really big ones out in the front not so much the threat of fire but they were leaning toward the house. We have to burn downed trees after we cut them up, and I have a garden hose in my hand while it’s burning. I try to burn when it’s damp or when it’s going to rain. Sometimes one match will set a blaze and it really gets scary at times. The flames will shoot so high.

I sure hope the best for all of the people in harms way, and if they have to leave, that they get out safe. I just saw on the news the other night a dog owner lost his life trying to rescue his dog from a house fire. I will say a prayer for all of those that are affected. Very sad to see people having their homes gone so fast.

Of course the family is first, but let me tell you if you haven't made a claim like some of these people are going to have to make it is a nightmare. You need proof of what you had in your house. It's best to have all your receipts and photo's of your interior, showing all your belongings. All your insurance policy's, and special coverage. But, all this paper work needs to survive the fire also.

And if you take pictures or a video of your belongings keep updating them and store them in a safety deposit box at the bank. If you keep them at home and the home is destroyed, so are your proof pictures.

Ken and Don good points. We keep digital photos which are on disc in a firesafe and backed up onto an online data safe. Small pric to pay for the trials of filing claims and rebuilding your life. Ken I think we will make that emergency list and keep it on the fridge!
