God I love it! McCain gave those damn liberals something thing to worry about and to talk about for over 2 months. She was the highlight of this dull political year. I can't say that I would support her in 4 or even 8 years, but she doesn't bring a certain amount of freshness to the table. Maybe it will rub off on future candidates. :D We could all use a touch of realilty from time to time.:eek::D

I hate to say it, but Pat is probably unfortunately right. At the rate we are financially spiralling downward. There are going to be millions more without jobs in the coming year. Weve had a lot of new large buildings under construction around here, they are half complete and they have pulled the plug and they sit idol because the owners have no jobs to fill them with.
The crime rate is going to go through the roof. The only companies showing profit are Winchester, Ruger, Mossberg, and all the other gun and ammo manufacturers (probably in China anyway), and of coarse the oil industry. The government says they know its bad, but they truely have no idea until the idiots running the show, throw thier wallets away and try to find a job and live on 10 bucks an hour. Out of sight out of mind.
I now love all the TV programs telling how you should manage your money, and make yourself more hireable for a job, NO ONES HIRING. Our papers job section is about half its normal size, mostly part time work, and 7 to 10.00 an hour jobs.

Over night the entire world knew about her, whether you voted or not you were now watching what was going on politically. She was attractive with a bubbly attitude and she was planted there to draw major attention, AND IT WORKED. Sex sells and washington just got pretty.
Every so often in life events occur that show what people are REALLY made of. Lots of folks will pretend to be politically even handed in their words, but then we get to see how they behave. We here a bunch of people decry our political system, how it seems rigged, how not enough "regular" people get involved. Mainly lawyers, rich socially connected, and politically corrupt players seem to be the only ones that get elected. They'll tell how much better it would be if "real" people got involved.........that's someone they could vote for! It's enough to peg your BS meter!
So we have a woman who decides to "do something". No privelege from annointed parents, no wealthy grandpa to support a life of leisure, no fancy ivy league university experience and connections. Just a working housewife who thinks one day, "hey, I want to do something about that!". Joins the PTA, works to make a difference. Decides to try the city council, works to make a difference. Runs hard to become mayor of her town, works to make a difference. Works her way through some mid level state government positions, seemingly effective along the way. Then, has the timerity to challange a corrupt governor in her own party and beats him. Sounds a lot like the fairy tale story so many "common citizens" keep pining for.
Then we have another woman, born of privelege, who is protected in her youth from over exposure to snoopy press slugs. Who then leads an apparently decent though mostly private life as an adult. Doesn't show any apparent political skill or interest...................until one day, for whatever reason, she decides she wants to be APPOINTED Senator of New York State. After all let's not dirty our hands with that lowly politicing morass, how common!
The one who worked her way up the ladder the hard way gets pummeled, prodded, slashed, and burned (a little humor isn't bad, but visciousness....something else). The "Princess" gets the red carpet rolled out as if her being gifted a high plitical position without ever having worked for it is as natural as a sunrise.
I'm not saying this is a matter of agreeing as much about the politics of either woman. I'm talking about the personal attacks or blind loyalty. Where people actually line up on those two tells you everything you need to know about their sincerity about representative government. It bends the needle on my BS meter.

I enjoy your putting whats real out there. I agree with everthing you said. I was always for the other side but I liked Sara, and switched. But they did a number on her.

What a joke!!!! Neither of the women involved have any business being in politics--one because of corruptness and an honor grad of the "good old boys" school--the other a small town small time big mouth who has to have the big buck boys buy here clothes and don't let her talk much..... But, as always, because of party affilitation, one is seen as the good witch, the other as the bad witch.....

Truthfully, judging both by their abilities, would you hire either of them to run your company, let alone you country?????
Face it, neither party could come up with qualified people who could take a stand on issues and speak intelligently about it so they resorted to politics as usual and could only make feeble attempts using innuendo and sometimes bold faced lies to degrade the other candidates....
I kept waiting for someone to have a POSITIVE AND WORKABLE plan that I could endorse and get behind--it didn't happen. We've learned to accept whoever is the best name caller and can bring up the most negative points about their opponent as the "best candidate"....
No matter who wins, it doesn't matter..... Cooperation and programs that are good for the entire country and all the people in it are no longer vogue... It's all about we're good and they're bad....Meanwhile to heck with what is good for the majority, let's just take care of those who donate the most money to our campaign.....
Nothing in politics is real, just a charade. Whomever plays their role the best is declared the winner. Qualifications and real solutions no longer are a consideration....
