Say it all together now "Colon Resection"

As some of you know I spent 5 days in the hospital about 2 months ago because of a hole in my colon, not a fun stay to say the least. WELLLLL, the doc said it happened because I have had diverticulitis for some time now and because of what happened he suggested strongly that I get this procedure. He said because of how sick I was there was a very good possibility that it would happen again but said it could be a hellva lot worse the next time.
Seeing that I use to be a mechanic and that I am a firm believer of preventive maintenance I have made plans to be out of commission for a few days to a week starting Dec 28th. Yepppp one hellva way to end the old year & begin a new one. But hey at least I won't have to meet my insurance deductible twice in a matter of weeks :D ......Joe

Ouch,sounds nasty,at least you get Christmas at home,hope it all goes well for you,and you get back to good health soon..Our prayers go out to you and your family..

It might be a pain in the............neck to get this done, but then you will be fine and not have to go through this again. Good luck.

Sorry to hear you have the surgery ahead, but you've thought it out and are doing the right thing at the right time. We will look forward to the report that all is well after the new year. Best wishes for the holidays, and for the surgery.

Well I did ask the doc if it'll make me a perfect a$$hole, but he said "NO" but you'll be 8-12 inches from it :eek: :whacked: :rolleyes: :LOL:

I've had it done twice - well three times actually - first time was 30 years ago. Took that long for scar tissue to close off the bowl. Emergency surgery to fix that in early July & then the next day another to fix more Crohne's he found while in there the day before. 10 days in hospital. Almost back to 100% and feel great. Best of luck with your surgery - nothing to it - go to sleep & wake up hurting like hell. :whacked:

I know that feeling all to well, this will make my 25th surgery(knee's, back, neck, kidney, etc) :whacked: :eek: I have had over my life time so far...joe

YEPPERS 25 of those slice & dice procedures and you would think I would have gotten at least 2 free ones. BUT of those 16 were knee surgeries. :rolleyes: :LOL: ....

Without starting a big political discussion (fat chance) this seems pretty relevant to whats going on in DC right now. I noticed Joe mentioned doing his procedure now meant he won't have to meet his deductible twice this year. Joe, could you explain that?

You miss understood/read what I said. Yes I have a deductable, BUT since I was already in the hospital I have met it for this year. SOoooo instead of waiting till next year(11days) to have the surgery done I elected to do it now to save the $$$$$$$$$. Why pay it 2x in a matter of days/weeks or even a month or 2.

Ding, Ding, Ding we have a winner. That's why I'm doing it now, I've already met my deductible this year and I'm hoping I can go at a least a year w/o being cut on or going into the hospital. Is this similar to having a heater hose split close to the engine so you cut off the bad part of the hose and hope you can stretch the remaining heater hose enought to reconnect to the hose barb?
