Say it all together now "Colon Resection"
As some of you know I spent 5 days in the hospital about 2 months ago because of a hole in my colon, not a fun stay to say the least. WELLLLL, the doc said it happened because I have had diverticulitis for some time now and because of what happened he suggested strongly that I get this procedure. He said because of how sick I was there was a very good possibility that it would happen again but said it could be a hellva lot worse the next time.
Seeing that I use to be a mechanic and that I am a firm believer of preventive maintenance I have made plans to be out of commission for a few days to a week starting Dec 28th. Yepppp one hellva way to end the old year & begin a new one. But hey at least I won't have to meet my insurance deductible twice in a matter of weeks......Joe

Wish you well.Being that you used to be a mechanic, think of it as just getting a new tailpipe installed.
It might be a pain in the............neck to get this done, but then you will be fine and not have to go through this again. Good luck.

Joe,
Sorry to hear you have the surgery ahead, but you've thought it out and are doing the right thing at the right time. We will look forward to the report that all is well after the new year. Best wishes for the holidays, and for the surgery.Roger

I've had it done twice - well three times actually - first time was 30 years ago. Took that long for scar tissue to close off the bowl. Emergency surgery to fix that in early July & then the next day another to fix more Crohne's he found while in there the day before. 10 days in hospital. Almost back to 100% and feel great. Best of luck with your surgery - nothing to it - go to sleep & wake up hurting like hell.

Joe, Have you in my prayers even as they have you under the knife. You are turning into a real kustom with all this chopping and sectioning.Hope you are well soon and never need the deductible in 2010.
PatOf course, that's just my opinion, I could be wrong!

I just had a call from Joe. His surgery was successful. If things continue to go well he should get to go home on Thursday and won't have to celebrate New Years in the Hospital. Keep him in your prayers.

The first one being 30 yrs. ago is just a distant memory. This last one was an emergency situation - ambulance to hospital & surgery within 6-8 hrs. It was a bowel obstruction from the previous surgery - the scar tissue closed of the bowel. While he was in there fixing that he found more crohnes. We had a talk the next day about how to fix it the best way & back into surgery for operation # 2. Re-sectioned about 2" & put me back together good as new. I was in the hospital for 10 days. That was in early July & I'm about 90% now & feel great. The cost was $80. for the ambulance & about $800 for a semi private room. The rest was paid by our health system. Sorry it took so long to respond Evolvo.
