I'm with a lot of you and don't do snakes. About 10 or so years ago, my church in WI became mission partners with a church in TX. We went down there and cleaned out a ditch and built Sunday school rooms. We had a group in the ditch and after cutting down a tree, a number of baby snakes came out of the trunk. Needless to say, the snakes were killed by my youth and adults. At lunch, we were asking about the snakes and after looking at them, we were told they were water moccasins. Needless to say, I'm glad that the adult snakes weren't around.
They also told a story about a funeral that they had shortly after the church was built. They were able to use the building, but it was not completely done. Anyway, the pastor was doing the worship service and this black snake came in from under the door and slithered up to the casket. It finally went into a plant and so a gentleman from the congregation went up and took the plant outside. The pastor didn't have a clue what was happening until after service. If I was that pastor, that would have been a good thing. Did I mention that I do NOT do snakes?
