new project, uh-oh and mini update

well ive taken my sweet time posting this thread, in fear for my life:eek::LOL:

back in december i bought a 1985.....MUSTANG:eek: for $350 bucks and have decided to make it the junkyard dream car:LOL::whacked:

its an 85 mustang lx 4 banger 4 speed.

i already have for it, a roller 5.0 shortblock from an explorer 70 bucks
set of that 7te heads traded a hood for these
brand new headers that i traded a set of exhaust manifolds for.
have the trade lined up for when i yank out the motor to trade the 4 speed to a circle track buddy of mine, for a completel t-5 setup!
or course new rings bearing rod bolts, it was a low mile shortblock but some regular maintenence never hurt right!? also have some solid rear control arms coming. and an 8.8 transplant waiting

so for well under a grand ill have a running driving v8 foxbody that'll be plenty for around town and maybe occasional track useage. but for the time being im enjoying the 20-25 mpg and driving a car for a change.

am going to prep it for a quickie paint job new fender on the way via the pull n save:rolleyes:, you'll never guess the color:whacked:

my fear was that i bought a ford and its kinda fun to work on:eek: i might be getting hooked:eek:

Well................WELCOME TO THE BLUE OVAL SIDE!!!!!!!!!!!:D You know what they say, "Once you go blue you can never go back", or something like that. :LOL:

Those Fox Mustangs are amazing little cars. It takes very little to make them run like stink and finding an unhammered 4 cylinder car like yours is the way to go, the torque boxes haven't been all bent out of shape.

besides the fender its straight needs a paint job, and a headliner <10 minutes a piece of fabric and some glue haha, torque boxes are perfect.

Best thing about those Fox mustangs is there a a billion of them around, so parts are cheap and plentiful. Sounds like a fun economic project that, as Don quoted, "will go like stink!" Cool post. And happy birthday!

Ford really milked these Fox stangs as long as they could, didn't they? Made the same basic car from 79-93, that's like 14 years! The ghost of old Henry Ford must still be running the place because if there was ever anyone who could stretch a dollar, it was old HF. :LOL:

A few years ago I found a mint 4 cylinder notch just like the one you have and was building a 460 for it. That car was MINT. Then hurricane Charlie came and the roof of my neighbors shop came down and badly dented the roof and A pillar and I had to scrap it. :CRY: I'd like to find another like it because I still have the 460, but nice ones like that are drying up around here.

the 460 swap IMO is not worth it, not when there are many small block options that weight alot less not to mention headers , etc

now theres an idea, drop a 6.9 idi diesel in there haha.

I've pulled many 6.9 diesels.... I think they probably weight more than a fox body mustang :-)
