Winter Gear
Well I am going to get some Mickey Mouse boots.Those are use by the Airborne and are warmest boots i have ever owned.In fact I was on a underground cable crew working out of town.We has dug a ditch the day before and some water has frozen overnight in it.I stood on it and broke threw filling one boot.Thought great,by the time I got back to the motel I was going to lose most of the days pay.I kept working just feeling the sloshing of the water and it was really cold out.Well I finished the work that day.Got back to the motel and emptied the boot out at the door.The water was steaming.No B.S.Certainly just the best boot I have ever owned.:)

Sounds like really nice boots but I just gotta ask the question everyone is wondering...........................where do they put the big round ears? :LOL::D:LOL::eek::LOL::confused:

They are called that because they look alot like the shoes Mickey Mouse wore.They have air between you and the outside rubber with a air valve on the side of them.The white ones I am getting are rated for -30.Thought we might have some old Airborne guys on the site who would know what I am talking about.

They look like the Air Force issue "bunny boots" we wore in Alaska.... They were good and certainly keep my feet warm. Take some getting used to as they feel "clunky" for the first few days, but after you get used to them there's nothing like them for real cold weather. I wore thick cotton/wool blend socks and lightly powered my feet before putting the socks on and was good all day in some pretty cold weather.

Sorry Gary, I should be ashamed of myself but when I saw the thread topic, 'Winter Gear', I thought it might be about changing rear end gears during the winter break or something along those lines, maybe a new toy or tool for the winter garage project, especially since this is Club Hot Rod, Great People, Great Cars, Great Fun. I really wasn't expecting reading about warm, rubber, white Mickey Mouse boots with a schrader valve on the side. :LOL: Now I have an image of Frankenstein's neck in my mind. :whacked:

I used to work with a guy from Canada who had a pair of those, wore them for just plain rubber boots; that was in the Mojave Desert, in wintertime of course; it does rain and snow here sometimes. I never wore rubber boots, just greased my work boots with waterproof grease; kept me just as dry, and never seemed to hurt the leather. My wife told everyone that her husbsnd wore Li'l Abner boots; my lineman's boots had a nice round and spacious toe box, sort of like those "Mickey Mouse" boots.

those are called vb boots stands for vapor barrier for the air you blow into them they will keep ypu feet warm even at 70 below zero for extended time we were issued them when I was stationed on the due line at ft wainwright fairbanks ak. I can tell you they will keep your feet warm at 70 below zero the longer you have them on the hoter your feet get.....ted

I had a pair of Mickey Mouse boots I wore snowmobiling. My feet NEVER got cold. I bought mine at an Army surplus store for 20 bucks if I remember right. I need to look for another pair. Mine dry rotted and fell apart years ago.
