Are you dunking the bird??.
We are smoking ours,,,:3dSMILE:
Fry baby fry!
One of my sons does the fry dunk, generally doing several birds when the oil is hot. We'll do the traditional bake.
Saw a stack of these infrared electric "fryers" at Home Depot the other day. Seems like a remote oven to me, but said that they cook in the same time as oil.
Wife is roasting a 25 pounder and I'm frying up a giant breast loaded with creole butter.
:LOL::LOL:what the heck is creole butter does that come from creole cows:LOL::LOL::LOL:..ted
Traditional in the oven -gotta love Thanksgiving! Football, food, family and a time to reflect on how blessed we really. I'll bet Dave's going to have the best Thanksgiving ever this year with two very precious little girls!
I may never have everything I "want" ('65 SS 396 Impala, '67 SS 427 Chevelle and the list could go on!) but I certainly have more than what I need. Incredible wife of nearly 40 years, four good kids and five grand kids who love their grandpa! A good job, good health and a God who loves me in spite of not because of who I am.
I know this has been a tough year for a lot on this site - hopefully 2012 will be better! I would like to meet a few more of you face-to-face in the future. Anyone coming near Portland always has a place to stay and a meal or two at my house!
Happy Thanksgiving and Blessings All,
Glenn
Traditional turkey, in the oven, dressing, mashed 'taters, sweet 'taters(candied yams), green beans, gravy, cranberry sauce, rolls. Mmmmmmm Then dessert:3dSMILE:
We will be going to have Thanksgiving Dinner at the retirement home my MIL lives at. They do a great job, as this is the 3rd year we have done this. Unfortunately, my MIL is 97(be 98 in Jan) and really is somewhere else most of the time, mind wise. Regardless, we will have a good time with her and many of the other folks that live there
Good on ya, Dave -
We'll have my mom and Joanie's mom both for Thanksgiving. MIL lives close by and mom about 2 hours away so my sister will bring her up. My mom still drives - kinda scary - Big Buick and she's so short she looks through the steering wheel and the dash! She's not too bad in the daylight and knows that night is pretty much off limits. I try and ride with her now and again and she sometimes takes the bicycle lane! I think we may have to talk with her doctor before too long and let him be the bad guy, re; no more driver's license.. Hard to loose that independence and mom still picks up the "old people (those over 90!)" to take them shopping or to church.. Whoo boy!!
Turkey in the oven with everything else, of course. And Lexi and Lesha helping Grandma bake some pumpkin pies!!!
in the oven.
were rollin a lil different this year, less formal. doing up hogies with turkey and a cranberry sauce and some side fixens and watchin football all day long! kinda like a mix between superbowl and thanksgiving, its gunna be supergivings! inviting some friends over to help eat all the food getting prepped since this year cant make it down to the folks house.
Went from the bird to breast this year, oven baked w/dressing cups. Umm, Umm
All the kid's are single and live local except The older son, who is on his way in at the moment.
No grand kid's , but they all have beautiful dog's which I enjoy.
All have a Great Thanksgiving and thank all our service men and women for the freedom we enjoy.
When we are home, I like to smoke it in the barby for a few hours, then bake it in the oven the rest of the way! Next day after the leftovers go into a sheri stew! Yum, And turkey sandwiches!. Never had a fried one yet, but have heard great things about them!
