Yes thanks for the good times
Can you leave it up through inauguration day in Jan? Regardless of the outcome tomorrow, there will be a lot of 'crap' to discuss between tomorrow and then.
Since we will all be a bit older and wiser, can we start a fresh one in 2016? Oh yeah, I agree about a shut down. It has run its course, but I think I said that w-a-a-a-y back
Yes, the release of election day (days?) will be cathartic and wounds will be licked. I suppose shutting down this thread might be appropriate, but as Dave W. noted, there will be more to do. No matter who wins, there will be a lot on the plate. We will either be led further down the path to a Southern European model of socioeconomic decline, or we will have to press a new guy hard to genuinely "turn it around". Decline has the momentum from decades of institutionalizing sloth and envy, and the producers to non-producers ratio is perilously near going over center. The megaphone advocating shifting ever more power from the people to the elites is still in a position of dominance in communication systems, though I suspect their sycophancy in this cycle has wounded their credibility even more than before. Take a rest, but don't stop.
Once again, I agree Bob. While the focus of this thread has shifted to being mostly about the campaign and election, I look back to Post #1 where the guidelines for the thread were stated:I will welcome the passing of the campaign rhetoric, but I fear that regardless the outcome of this election there are going to be critical concerns to be addressed. Again, regardless who wins the election, I will be interested in the slow unraveling of the facts(?) of what truly happened in the weeks, days and hours before the tragedy in Bhengazi; and for another, in how we stop the slide into the economic morass that much of our world today finds themselves occupying.Quote:
It was suggested that we start a new thread for our off-topic discussions regarding the state of the union, world peace, cures for physical ailments or other potentially disrespectful subject matter. So with that as our tenet, this thread is dedicated to the free and open dialog of any subject, provided posts follow the guidelines of the forum which we all agreed to when we signed on, and especially those in Bill's post on RESPECT (not the Aretha Franklin song!!) Respect, Respect, Respect!!!
As Bob says, I believe that it is critical that folks like us continue to be concerned with what's going on, and to do whatever we can to keep our leaders accountable. After all, this is still supposed to be a government by the people, for the people and most importantly, of the people, whether this thread remains open or is locked to drift away.
I think that to straigthen out many issues here, we need to bring our troops home for the holidays, a good rest, some training, re-deploy them on the border and after the election , invade Mexico to get the drug trafficers---the murders there in the past several years approach nearly a hundred thousand-after we stop the drug traffic, we can stay in the area for 12-15 years just like OVER THERE and fix the immigration stuff---I'm sure that most of the Mexicans would vote to be annexxed to the USA----------
i've always said we need to take a 1 mile strip along the border and use it for a military installation . crossing it would be a whole different story .
i can tell the border patrol is trying to put out a brush fire by peeing on it . texas alone needs another 1k agents on the border.
It would be a much shorter fence if we built it between Panama and Columbia----------
We need to become NORTH AMERICA ---------land of the FREE ( of OPEC, Drugs, China, Iran, Afgan, Pakistan, etc)
Well maybe thats one of the reasons there making the canal "wider"
China is working on a dry land/railroad deal across Columbia to get containers to smaller ships in the gulf
We all need to get up to speed on what is taking place in this HEMI-SPHERE and let the Mediterain and Mid East/North Africa be delt with by someone else!!!!!
The first thing that has to be done in order to do that is post a map with each country name, the current head of state and his politics and whether the country is a 'friend' of the USA. Not everyone even knows what is South of the Border. Need to include the Caribbean too. There are a few of those countries I NEVER want to visit ever again
If the incumbent wins I will go into the garage and try to find that "TEXAS SECEDE" bumper sticker.
Jim
How would you like living in a blue state but in a totally red county surrounded by very blue, plus bordered by the same kind of blue in the neighboring states? (I think that made sense!!)
sorta same deal living in a county next to Cook County, Illinois----there is such a shadow from Cook county ----last election margin of victory for Dems was over a million------half of them registered by ACORN and half of those already dead-------
I feel your pain, Kitsap county in Washington State. (across the sound from a very blue Seattle)Quote:

want to know how bad the drug traffic is?????????? check murders in central and south america-----------
I wish I had just HALF of my daughter's IQ (160+). I love the girl dearly.
That said, she just returned to her job in Dubai. This is the second time she has made the trip from Dubai to Texas for the purpose of voting for our current president. It is a sixteen+hour non-stop flight.
I would like to think that the main reason for her being here was to visit her mom and her old man, and the visit happened to coincide with election day.
Yeah ......
Wherein have I failed?
Jim
Jim - you can only do the best for your kids and at least start them down the right path. Unfortunately, there are detours and side roads that get taken and not all of them make sense to mom and dad. Just love her, maybe counsel her quietly and possibly she will eventually get the message.
On the news last night they were interviewing people. One stuck out real good wearing an Obama sticker on her coat "Why are you voteing for Obama?" "Cause he got me welfare" nuff said.
Tell her that if things get hot over there not to go to the embassy---in fact, tell her to stay as far away from any gathering at the embassy that might attract terrorists(or people urinated about a u-tube)
I hear warning sirens----don't look stormy , maybe we're being invaded, ZERObama is out and about or just maybe 10am on first Tuesday of month!!!!!!
Did my duty Voted waited in the long line. Now just wait and see. Had 6 constitution amendments to vote on (All NO) just more political BS. Right now I'm so tired of this crap I can't believe people can be that stupid and let others just pray apon them.
Just got an email....guy heard that, if Romney wins, Romney is going to appoint Obama Ambassador to Libya since there is an opening currently.
MikeB,
In Issaquah (just across the lake from Seattle and a little east for those who don't know) at least I have a few Republican neighbors.:):)

Give a man a welfare check, a free cell phone with unlimited free minutes, free internet, cash for his clunker, food stamps, section 8 housing, free contraceptives, Medicaid, ninety-nine weeks of unemployment, free medicine, and he will vote Democratic the rest of his life…and even after he's dead.
Mailed in vote last month. Now I guess we all wait, hope and pray that who we feel is the best choice, not only wins, but actually does something to better this country and help the people out!
Don't be alarmed when you see early returns favoring Obama. The republicans will be voting when they get off work this evening.:LOL:
Vote people - I have no time for whiners, especially those who do nothing to change the situation!!
Regards All - I'm glad to have you as my friends and have enjoyed this thread - really!! Never forget that, "Iron sharpens iron..."
Thanks for keeping me sharp,

Well, to quoted Dandy Don Meredith;
"Turn out the lights, the party is over"...
Now let's hope some bi-partisanship politics will come into play and Congress can go back to work with some sort of spirit of cooperation with the other side and this country can continue healing (hopefully a lot faster) and for a change do what's best for America and not just what's best for their party...
I'm stunned. Am I the only one whom is tired of a minority of States dictating our elections?
I would say at least he can't make a third term, but with the little regard he has for the constitution, that would be a poor bet.

I am now thoroughly convinced we have, the United States, slid down that long slippery slope and are now knocking at that Marxist/socialist door to which Obama has taken us. We, as a country can probably survive these four years, but if this goes beyond that point, none of us will be around for any recovery - at least not us older folks. I just don't understand how almost 59 MILLION people that voted for continuation of this man's reign can be so blind.
'Nuff said by me, it's over. Now we need to look at how to continue providing for us and our families so we can survive the upcoming crushing costs, taxes and destruction of personal liberties.
This thread has now run it's course, no other political posts or threads will be allowed on the forum for another 4 years.
You want to continue discussing politics, there are specialty forums for that purpose, just not this one.
Please respect the forum and it's rules against further threads like this one.
This thread is now closed.
