I have been a skeptic of "climate change" since the late 50's when the "scientists" of that era proclaimed that we were entering the next ice age and the likelihood of ice stretching to the Ohio river was a distinct possibility. Folks of the era had more common sense or a least used common sense to dismiss those claims as pure bunk. As uncle bob so eloquently stated they have to "justify their existence" to be able to stay on the gravy train mostly at the expense of our tax dollars. Those who think that man at this time can have a major effect on the climate needs to have a come to Jesus meeting.

Occasionally we will be shown something that is clearly definitive. Here's a relatively short vid of a "debate" about why our current economy is barely growing for such a sustained period. Kudlow does only a fair job of moderating, I suspect because he values his friendship with both these guys and doesn't want to crush his buddy Jerod Bernstein who is a good guy who's out of touch. T.J. Rodgers is my kind of guy. A gutsy entrepreneur who doesn't disguise what he thinks.
Why I think this is such a telling exchange is you've got Bernstein, who lives his life safely ensconsed in his tax payer paid ivory tower, THEORIZING about how a functional economy works vs. Rodgers who ACTUALLY takes risks and creates businesses meeting the needs of his fellow man, and employs REAL people in those jobs that serve the demands of their fellow man. Yet Bernstein will argue against reality in defense of his utopian beliefs. A classic battle of intentions vs. actual outcomes.;)

Good grief!!!! Is there anything wrong in this country that Obama DIDN'T cause???? My memory isn't that great, but I believe unemployment has been a concern for more then 3 years???? No big gain in jobs this month, but the last few have shown a gradual improvement. Everything didn't go in the toilet quickly, the improvements are going to be very slow coming, too. I'm not defending him, just getting tired of all the complaining---and no one with a clue on what it's going to take to fix things, or who the people are who could fix things!!!!! Better hope a lot more people buy into the everything is Obama's fault, the polls sure don't look encouraging so far and every time Mr. Etch a Sketch opens his mouth it's apt to get worse!!!!! My vote is still with "none of the above".
Is it really right to blame illegals for "stealing" jobs when the blame should really fall on the business's who hire them??? At least they'll take a job when it's offered, any job...... Hard to fault a man because he is willing to work for less then others and do work that others won't do..... One of the big issues to running a successful business is keeping the labor costs and other overhead low, right???? My suggestion still holds, bring ALL our troops home from ALL the foreign countries they're in and not wanted, have them start rounding up and exporting illegals, then guard the borders to keep them out!!!!!!

Dave I definately don't just blame Obama, all politicians are responsib;e, and we are too. As for illegals I don't blame them for seeking opportunities others choose to ignore. I blame us for making physical labor seem demeaning to the younger generations, so that they don't seek out work, instead of handouts. Half the pan handlers I see here are young , strong and lazy. I worked in the fields as a kid, weeding, picking fruit, tying vine. I was greatfull for the income, now days it's beneath most kids to really work. That is what I meant by my earlier post.

I'm just fed up with all the negative in the country today!!!! When is the last time you heard a politician, or anyone for that matter, actually come out with a positive plan to improve things and bring the country back to it's former greatness?? It's like for the election this year, are only vote is for the person having the fewest negative checks by their name. Will either party even come out of their convention with a platform, a positive plan and a list of commitments they will actually try to achieve, or will both just come out loaded with a bunch of bs negative ads about the other guy???
I did all kinds of work thru my life, lots of people around here still do. Probably why our unemployment level is lower then the national number, but, wages around here are lousy!!! Maybe this is the way things should be, just take whatever job is offered and work for whatever wage is paid? It's a right-to-work state, so the boss can fire you for no reason at all and you have no recourse. If someone mentions "union" or any form of collective bargaining, they're shown the door in a heartbeat!!!! But, the unemployment number is low so I suppose that makes everything good?? If you're hoping all the Unions are abolished, and businesses are allowed to operate without any intervention, this is what you end up with.... So, be careful what you wish for!! Unemployment is down, but $12.00/hour is a good starting wage!!!

I think if you look back just a little bit you'll see that Housing had a big deal to do with this...(meaning lending instutions and there mortage holders) Balloon mortages manly. get your mortage at 3% 5 or 6 years later its 12% then 18% . The customer signed the paper if they didn't read it who can you blame? I learned in high school how to figure interest. Look what I got for so little ...then comes judgement day. spending more than you have,,Our government dose it all the time....What are we going to do when China call in our note. Everyone says look at them living ina shack when they had this Big house on the hill WHO told them to buy that big house on the hill and WHO gave them the money to buy it. It is not just one person Everyone wants that house but no one wants to work for it.I have a grandkid that has that attitude they don't pay enough, Well boy you have to go prove yourself to get what you THINK you have coming...I get so tired of all this everyone knows whats wrong yet know one is doing anything about it. at least not the ones who can. I think the CNBC clip that Bob posted was crystal clear stating that the problems are not simply the Obama years, but extend back into the GW Bush years, too. W had to deal with the twin tower terrorist attack very early in his term, and that set the stage (IMO) for much of what he did in his eight years. The problem is, again IMO, that with that as a starting point Obama ratcheted up government spending in tremendous amounts, and most, if not all of the spending programs did very little to actually "stimulate" anything. I'm not sure we can stand another four years of this tune, so for me the mantra is "Defeat Obama".

To not hold the sitting president responsible for things he said he would improve, that he assured the country that his actions were going to solve the problems that still persist, that had the results come out differently (though historically the methods employed have never done so) he would have most assuredly taken full credit for.........is exactly what the recently announced "slogan" is all about. " FORWARD!................hey, don't look at what I've done, just listen to the promises I make!" That may have worked on the high school girls, but not on me. Apparently some haven't watched the video I posted....................the primary point of which was, who might have the better prescription for economic success? The person who's done it, or the person who just talks about it as if he had? Seems like a simple concept............but not based on the way people in this country talk/think/vote.
Will any President solve these issues himself? Of course not.......................so why re-elect the guy who is so fond of the first person pronoun, yet only wants to take credit for successes while finding all manner of things/people to blame for the failures.
As for all politicians only offering negatives that's a pile of steamy excrement. The House of Representatives has offered a budget each of the past two years that at least offers a manner of spending control. You may not agree with it in it's entirety, but there has been absolutely NO debate about it because it get dropped in a drawer of the Senate Majority Leader. Yeah, call that a blame game.........................................which is the same as condoning doing nothing. If enough citizens of this country pulled together in a positive direction we could work together to get back on track. But when the President and all his supporters spend a good part of each day dividing the country into interest groups each and every day (rich against "poor", men against women, whites against whichever "minority" group is the pander of the day, students against tax payers, anybody against business, and on and on) it makes it difficult to do. Job creators are the one genuine minority in this country that it's okay to demonize it appears. No Union, Politician (while in office), News reporter, ever created a business/job............they only exploit the situation created for them. Arghhhh!

I was married into a family that was heavily involved in a company called Rich Products.You remember "Coffee Rich"?.They have military contacts worth millions.Two yrs before the election they knew for sure that Jimmie Carter was going to be the next President and their contact was going to be renewed.It is the way Washington works guys.
Economies takes YRS to develop to the current state and certainly not just 3 yrs,6yrs,or 8 yrs.
A major change back to giving the government back to the people would be to limit budgets of free air time of people trying to be elected and to make any lobbying of any kind illegal.

So, OK. I didn't vote for Obama the first go-round, and it's a cinch I won't vote for him this time....But just who the heck is their to vote for that's running for President??? Myself and a lot of other people are just fed up with voting for nobody, just voting against somebody.... Romney has changed sides on every issue that ever was, I can't be for him with a clear conscience!!!

Hearing nothing but negative from every media source in the country has taken it's toll on the general population, I think! It's still awhile til November, maybe a good independent candidate will still show up and give us a viable alternative to politics as usual. I sure hope so! If not, my vote for Pres. will just be a blank box with no check mark! I'm still looking for candidates who offer a positive plan to at least get this country going in the right direction and not the usual negative campaigning bs. Tired of it. To me, all the negative crap sounds like it's too late, and this country is already dead and too dumb to fall over.......

Please don't misunderstand me.I don't advocate making lobbyist groups to be illegal for the sake of limiting debating issues.I do suggest to make them illegal on the basis of the paid for influence they have.

I wouldn't want to outlaw "lobbying", but I would like to see it become more transparent and accountable and there are supposed to be laws, if I'm not mistaken, that attempt to do just that. But as we all know there are those that seem to be able to skirt around the laws until they get caught and I don't think the penalties are high enough for those that break the rules and it happens on both sides of the aisle.
As far as presidents go I've been alive for the last 13, though I was too young to remember anything about FDR. During my adult life I have always considered Carter to be the worst President that ever held the office, but then along came Obama and I have to reconsider that analogy. IMHO, a Presidents real power lies in his or hers ability to manipulate Congress to achieve their goals and if the majority of Congress is made up with people of the Presidents party the road is generally much smoother. Obamacare would have never passed with a Republican majority and probably most of the bail outs wouldn't have either.

First - Dave S., thanks for echoing my thoughts, like you I just cannot endure the negative spin any longer! And let's not forget the teflon suit!
Regarding lobbys - some of you know I assist in a small farm and we grow cranberries. We are a member of a growers association and the association hires lobbyists to promote and protect our interests. They watch the lawmakers who may create legislation that may be hard or damaging to us as well as network with other industries who may be in the market for our product.
I think that the lobbyists are getting (or get) a bad rap just like the speculators, I'm sure some bad apples abused the system, hence the stiffer laws & penalties, but there must've been a bad politician on the other side of the fence with his hand out!

Up until recently I would have agreed with you. The President’s ability to make the appointments for the heads of agencies with regulatory powers can give him a great deal of power to slip rules and regulations (laws) into place without much public discussion or debate.
Of course the appointment of Judges to the Supreme Court will have a long term effect on how laws are interpreted even after a President leaves office, but agency heads also set the tone for rules and regulations that are put into place that also have long term repercussions.
The unfortunate thing is often the heads of these agencies while they may be somewhat competent managers often don’t have a clue about what it is really like out in the real world they are proposing rules for.
It’s a lot easier for an agency to enact a law than it is to get it appealed afterward. Look at the monsters that agencies (which were originally well intentioned) have become. Agencies like EPA, OHSA, Dept of Labor, Department of Transportation etc. Every year these agencies become bigger and enact more and more laws that often that slip under the radar until it is too late.
What got me thinking along these lines were the recently proposed child labor laws that seemed to be slipping thru until some people sat up and took notice.
The new regulations were directed at children working on family farms (like I grew up on) and in part included.
“…..Two different Federal Agencies have proposed rules within the past year that would each have a devastating effect on family farms. The first was the Department of Transportation which proposed a rule to require that all operators of farm equipment must have a commercial driver’s license even when driving on their own land.
The second is a Department of Labor rule to prevent children from doing farm chores. The rule would apply child-labor laws to children working on family farms, prohibiting them from performing a list of jobs on their own families’ land. Under the rules, children under 18 could no longer work “in the storing, marketing and transporting of farm product raw materials.”
The new regulations, first proposed August 31 by Labor Secretary Hilda Solis, would also revoke the government’s approval of safety training and certification taught by independent groups like 4-H and FFA, replacing them instead with a 90-hour federal government training course.
These new rules from two different Federal Agencies were announced within the past year and then withdrawn, as recently as last week, after the administration saw the public outrage over the proposed rules.
Why are family farms coming under attack by Federal Agencies? Well one clue can be found in Obama’s recent speeches where he calls Capitalism a “failed policy of the past”…….”

presidents are kaka. they are a distraction from our real problems. the only thing that has slowed down obama is a congress that tells him to multiply himself. if you dont like things get on your representatives butt. they get clean away because we all fret over the president. if obama wins again we are doomed period. congress will control romney and keep him in check.
i am pro business . washington cant do their job much less run mine.
what happened in the banking industry was exactly what they did with the mobile home industry. sell to anyone thanks to jimmy stupid .

I've watched this thread and it underscores my belief that CHR has a lot of well read and articulate members in areas that go far beyond the fender-wells of a hot rod. I too am sick of the political circus and if it were at all possible to have a handle in the voting booth that said "pull this to remove them all" I'd be sorely tempted to give it a good yank. The career politicians in this country are so out of touch with reality. (Loved the monkey analogy, Richard - it's right on!)
Do you think Nancy Pelosi knows (or cares) what a week of groceries costs for a family of four? Think John McCain has to decide between paying the rent or buying shoes for his kids to go back to school? We've created a culture of "rich-only-need-run" that has truly destroyed the concept of "representing" ones constituent. My representative(s) and senator are not in the same universe as I am - much less planet or heaven forbid, in touch with those they're supposed to represent.
We sorely lack leadership in America. I don't blame all the problems on the current administration, but the buck has to stop somewhere and the current occupant of my White House is a master at blaming everyone else for all that's bad, taking credit where none is due and using the "I" word far to often if reference to grandiose schemes that have no chance of ever being funded without continuing to turn the crank on the federal printing press further devaluing our once proud dollar. His most recent trip to Afghanistan was a political stunt - pure and simple. The troops do not respect him as CIC as they see through the charade. Over Christmas, we had family here and my wife's nephew brought his son - Air Force E-3. I asked him what he thought of Mr. Obama as CIC - he smiled. I probed further and said, "I've not yet met a soldier who respects him." He smiled again and said, "You still haven't". He was professional enough not to bad mouth his CIC, but the message came through loud-and-clear.
While I rarely agree with the New York Times, an article this morning had a great quote from Andrea Saul (a spokeswoman for the Romney campaign) - “President Obama’s policies have brought us fewer jobs, stagnant incomes and higher energy prices.”
Remember that when you vote this fall.....

Good one Charlie...........I was going to "Like" the post to commend your posting it, but then it seemed weird to "like" something so infuriating.
Glenn, while not all current military personnel may share the sentiment of the young lad you referenced, there appears to be considerable angst in the SEAL community. It began at a low rumble a year ago with the announcement by the President that had more I's than a potato field, with only scant acknowledgement of the personal risks of the team members directly involved. But they bit their tongues as good military practice requires of a team that operates in tight secrecy, and rode it out. However, this week's actions have rubbed the scab off. Not just the self agrandizement, but also the revelation that a memo had been written prior to the OBL mission that essentially stated the position that if the mission was successful, the Pres would take full credit, while if it had failed in some way, the turd was in Adm. McRaven's pocket (he being the SEAL commander who took charge of mission planning). It's bad enough to motivate many former SEALs to join together to voice their disgust. The dishonest media will portray their actions as another "Swift Boat" operation, and dismiss it as partisan driven. Just as they never acknowledged (or understood?) that John Kerry/Dems bragging up three purple hearts that never required a minute of hospital time was unintentionally demeaning to deserving casualties who may have suffered significantly more. That testifying to some degree of falsehood against the individual soldiers was seen as betrayal, especially to a group of vets who felt they were the scape goats for poor political decisions. The current crop of vocal SEALs will be attacked and demeaned as well. Sad, but predictable. This time around though, there may be an even more significant backlash. Time will tell.

Irony.......................I just had to spend a few hundred to "prove" to them that I didn't owe $15000 additional on my 2010 return............a return that did in fact include the documentation they claimed was missing. However, with them, you're guilty until you prove you're innocent if you're in the wrong politcal classification (apparently......does being half Italian qualify me as Latino?).

Well to me this means you were indeed undocumented when you were snuck into the country, IMO you would then be an illegal, a minority, and possibly a victim of discrimination because of your origins and ancestry!!!!!!! I'd say contacting the right agency in our government would grant you the free ride with all the fringe benefits, bells and whistles that other illegals so graciously accept!!!!!! Good thing to post Dave. Some have already been aware of this, others it will be a news flash.
As it becomes more well known the responses will be predictable. For those who don't give it much thought there will be the usual calls to "tax the rich" as if they are a bottomless pit of available money. Of course the "rich" (the definition is flexible depending on what the subject matter is, in some cases the "rich" is anyone who has property, savings, or a regular paying job) who earned the money in the first place by doing something of value to their fellow man, have the ability to do something about the situation as well. The French will see this sort of thing too if the new President there does what he says he intends to. You can call these folks greedy, unpatriotic, or some other blather that gets ginned up by those who choose to criticize the productive. Yawn! Is greed doing something of high value to others that they freely exchange value for (most often money, though it could be something else), or demanding that someone who actually earns what they have give it up to those who don't provide value to their fellow man?

How about another tidbit? The National Association of REALTORS is all over this and working to get it repealed before it takes effect, but don't hold your breath. I am very pleased we aren't the only ones who know about this ploy to steal billions from unsuspecting homeowners.
Did you know that if you sell your house after 2012 you will pay a 3.8% sales tax on it? That's $3,800 on a $100,000 home, etc. When did this happen?
It's in the health care bill and goes into effect in 2013. Why 2013? Could it be so that it comes to light AFTER the 2012 elections? So, this is "change you can believe in"? Under the new health care bill all real estate transactions will be subject to a 3.8% Sales Tax. If you sell a $400,000 home, there will be a $15,200 tax. This bill is set to screw the retiring generation who often downsize their homes.
Does this make your November and 2012 vote more important?
