Auto lifts

I am looking at buying a four post lift and was wondering what those of that have lifts use and like or dislike. I am looking at the PRO PAK 8000+.

Pro Pak doesnt return anything on a Google search.....who makes it?

We bought a Bend Pak not long ago. The guy we bought it from installed it for
only $450.....darn well worth the money. Whatever you buy, make sure the pump
is 220 Volt....a 120 volt pump will be sloooooooooow. There are essentially two
classes of lifts, home garage use which is intermittent and commercial where the lift is
raised/lowered many times a day. A home garage lift will not last long in commercial
use. They sell tool trays to between the runners.....you can make these out of
several types of material....and save a few $$. Wheels? I wouldnt trust them. Mine
is bolted to the floor for a stable platform. Having 3500 or so lbs 8 feet in the air on
wheels doesnt seem really safe.

Just depends on what your lift is going to be used for... Ive had both styles and to be honest I use the two post a lot more than the four post. The four post is great for access all the way around the car so if your doing body work its great. Also good for changing oil and another parking spot.

The two post lends itself to more maintenance capabilities. Great for doing axle, tire and wheel work. I find it easy to use the 2 post for lifting bodies on and off, Muffler work and just about anything else under the vehicle.

My two post came from Ben Pearson Tube works and I love it... My 4 post worked well and the quality was wonderful and it was built by BendPak.

I think the one you're looking at is a Pro Park 8000 by Direct Lift, not Pro Pak? I have not bought one yet, but in looking around I found this comparison which also has some interesting information about the "Made in USA" claims that we hear from some makers - Pro Park 8S Vs. Thanks to all for the responses! Yes it is Direct Lift/ ProPark 8000+ I had not thought about the voltage issue. This will be strictly for my own maintenance work. Now a days it takes too long to get up off the floor!

When I still had the big shop, had 2 Bend Pak lifts, both with wheel sets and the rolling crossing beams... They're better then 20 years old now and still there doing there job!!!! My favorite thing about the 4 posts is that when you weren't using them, you could roll them out of the way and use them for storage!!!! BTW, never did roll them with a car on them.... As Mike mentioned it was a bit too scary for me to roll one of them around with a car sitting up in the air!!!!!:eek::eek:

I have the 4 post bend pak you can't roll them with a car UP on them the weight of the ramps (down) hold the wheels down..so you can't roll them with car up in air. I have used both . I would not trade mine for anything like Dave said age has taken the fun out on crawling around on the floor. I have access to 2 center post frame hoists in the shop in town, but hardly ever use them. Mine is 120 volts and never have had problems with it.. never anchored it
