Thanks Em! but I was throwin' rocks at chebby trucks years before the Dodge pick-em-ups came out with a Cummins in them!!!!!!! Now everybody's doin' it!!!!!:LOL::LOL:
chevy is supposed to be coming out with a diesel in the 3/4 ton trucks this year or next...My guess is next as they are already changing over to the 2014 s at the assembly plant in Fort Wayne
i used it to haul my gals 53 buick special to the shop.
since my 73 year old buddy knows the city better than i do i had him drive it.
his response?
i should never got in this thing
cuz now i want one!
Yup, all that nice, smooth Cummins torque makes a believer out of most people on just one test drive!!!!
instead of buying a house right away we are going to get a BIG 5th wheel trailer.
we went window shopping yesterday and was looking at 35-40 foot ones
and a salesman asked
what are you going to use to pull with?
i pointed at the dodge
and the first thing he said was
is that a gas or diesel?
when i told him the cummins he said.
that'll pulll anything on this lot.
that made me feel good.
Yeah, most folks that visit him probably go truck shopping, too! You might look around at the "previously owned" 5th wheel market. There's some pretty good first year depreciation on those new units that one can avoid if you can find one with two or three years of use that fits your needs. Around here there are a lot that get bought, then spend most of their time parked, waiting for owner's to have time to use them.... Just a thought.
update
after 450 miles we are getting 18.2 mpg city driving.but i am going to keep tabs on it and find out what my average is after a few thousand miles.
and strangely enough,
that completely agrees with the onboard gas milage estimator. ( i didnt expect that)
yet another update
the passenger fender was all jacked
but my buddy i bought the truck from had a replacement he threw in.
i went to NAPA and gave them the paint codes and had em mix me up a quart of paint.
my buddy sprayed the fender for me and a week later i installed it.
it is a darn close match.
not quite as shiny but nobody notices except me.
while i was at it ,
i did a bit of detail cleaning.
wah-lah!

Looks great. I've cracked one of those rear fenders before, the very first time I drove a dually through a cattle guard opening. Didn't stop to think about the back end making thru where the front had no problem. I used to see duallys in Wyoming that had these weird antenaes off and to the side of the front bumper, after driving one I figured out what they were for! :)
