I assume this sorry excuse for a 'reality' show is scripted. Regardless, it's a horrible example for the Discovery Channel to be broadcasting. I wish all this 'reality' bullbleep would wither and die.

Agree!!
Event though they put the " disclaimer " Don't Try This At Home
It will surely lead some youngsters to an untimely jail sentence or worse case, fatality.
1 scary a** mishap is all it takes.....
Is it a reality or fantasy that every show on TV has to have 55 minutes of drama and 5 minutes of "reality"?
And yes, if this doesn't popularize and give a basic outline for street racing 9 second cars... and possibly cause someone harm.. I don't know what will.
Around here the kids put their videos on Youtube and the police use them to fine the guys in court! I wonder what will happen to all these "stars" in OK?
Nothing will happen. It's all staged, no doubt.
I agree. As proof in (I think) episode 2 "they" buy a cop car from a "Shady character" and they giggle like school girls when a "real" patrol car goes by. But the "real" cruiser ignores them even when upon arrival the school girls are doing donuts and tossin' dust/dirt everywhere.
What really annoys me is on the repeat shows where "they" have the public text in messages to share with us all. Same thing on most of the Discovery Channel programs, these text messages reveal how ignorant some of "our" people really can be!
Stolen from Uncle Bob, but appropriate here, too....

I think you nailed it with that one RSpears!
Profit. Reality shows exist because of profit. All it takes is a camera operator, a high dollar Sony camera, and some kind of director. Then, the producer splices the stuff together. Low cost to produce, tons of idiots willing to watch....ads sell easily if they have lots of viewers. Duck Dynasty claims to not even have scripting...they only discuss the scene and everyone does their own lines. Much cheaper than doing an episode of Green Acres and the reality show has the same zero-brain viewer requirement.
learning channel, discovery, history and all the other educational chanels have completely crapped the bed.
