*****Please Help Identify*****

Hello everyone!

I was wondering if any of you could help me identify the make and model of this car (year too?). I think that the patina on it is just bada** and I know that I can buy it off the owner for dirt cheap.

I hope these pictures are better. Thank you for your responses as they help a lot. And for the record, I plan on making the car mechanically new but clearcoating the body so it looks worn and tired. Also while I have your attention, do any of you know if a big block 460 would fit in this? I know where I can buy one for $250. I think I will go with a smaller motor if I buy it, but I'm just curious.

Can you increase the picture size, up to maybe nominal 640x480 pixels? Welcome to CHR, by the way...

Roger, just in case you don't know, you can hold down your Ctrl key and then roll the wheel on your mouse and it will enlarge it for you.
That Patina Queenl sure brings up the word Kaiser in my mind and I don't know why - - - could just be my mind or lack of.

Yes, but the resolution on the pictures gets really, really bad with the screen expand method. I'm hoping for a bigger file, better resolution. What jumps out at me is that the car looks to be pretty narrow for the Kaisers, DeSotos, etc from the early '50's. The headlights seem to be quite a bit closer together to me.... like maybe something made for narrower roads, like from Europe?? Might be an earlier Kaiser, like a '47 or '48? They had the headlights inset a bit, and it looks like a hint of a big grille bar hanging down on the driver's side. Bigger pictures would be a big help.

Good Point, even hard to tell if it's possibly right hand drive from the pics.

'49-51 Lincoln. Poor resolution so can't tell what year exactly, but one of those three. It's a 4 door, so value is not high especially in it's probable condition. Similar body to the Merc of the same years, but front clip is very different.

Rectangular parking lights would make it a '50 I believe. 49's had round lights.
That could make a sweet ride, even the moredoor model because the rear doors are suicide and the handles blend in with each other. Under the hood resides a beastly 337 cubic inch flathead V8......niiiiiice. Here are some other 50's from google Images.....

Glad I didn't jump in here too soon and open my big mouth with "It's a Hudson" which I had in mind before reading the other replies above.

10-4 Richard and Nick you aren't the "only" one that had a Hudson Deja Vu moment

Oh yeah, that would make one gorgeous cruiser and I wouldn't be put off by the extra doors as one could hold a barn dance in the back of one of those babies without disturbing the front passengers. I would have Jaguar IFS and IRS in it with the car low down in the weeds powered by a BBF or C to fill the engine bay. If you can purchase at a good price and can do something with it, go for it....

Yep, Jaguar XJ6 front and rear. I'd lean toward keeping the flathead though and bolting it up to a modified (gear change) 700R4 with 2.84/1.57 first and second gears. Not enough poop? Hang a 177 blower on it. :whacked:.

Oh man of my own heart, or whatever that saying is, I do admire a well dressed flatty with a V belt driven blower and twin jugs on top. The reason I mentioned big block is sometimes I feel as if once you raise the hood , you tend to have to send search and rescue in to find the engine but with a blower etc and the right amount of chrome etc. one would have an outstanding engine bay and with the engine linked to a late model trans. one would have a nice cruiser. I have researched those small type blowers for putting one on my SBC and my triples with the progressive linkage on top would give me the punch when required but drivability around town.
