A friend with a huge photo collection sent me some pics that I thought some here would enjoy.
And here's some more...
I love the guy above working on the model!
Here's a few more........
And a few more??
WAY COOL Thanks brings back some memories
Here's some others.. I wonder where all those flatheads are now??
When was the last time you saw the service department wearing WHITE??
Almost the end..
Did you notice the car carriers? Anyone remember those going down the road?
These last two were to big, so I'll add less to hold the overall size down rather than shrinking them any lower.
And I thought R2 would appreciate a red pickup!
Great Pics!!!!! Thanks!!!!!
VERY VERY COOL!!!!! Thanks
.
Glad you guys enjoyed them!
Some cool pictures! You asked, "Wonder where all of these flatheads are....?" A good number of them are in the "boneyard" at H&H Flathead out in Caliphoney...
My friend who shared all these pics is named Tom. He's a professor at Indiana U - Evansville, here's his first hot rod and his last.
loved the pictures. thanks.
Thanks JYG! Good to know you're still here too!
Great pics! I really enjoyed seeing them and thinking about how car production and life in general was so different back then.
Not sure what you mean. I still see car carrier trucks just about every day. Maybe because I drive the PA Turnpike every day and the commercial traffic from the ports inland accounts for still seeing many of these carriers.
Great pictures, thanks for the post… i think the '64 was mine… had one just like it… trunk big enough to sleep in..
Really enjoyed those pics, Mike, especially that yard full of "Future Surf Buggies" :toocool::3dSMILE::LOL:
Did you guys notice in the first set of pictures, at the Caddilac employment window, on the wall is another sign that says, "Remember Pearl Harbor"....
Holy crap, Mike! I finally clicked on this thread and what a treat!!! Red pickup? Sure, why not!! I think I even saw my '37 on that assembly line pic!
Don't know why but I've always loved assembly line pics of '59 Chevys being built.:HMMM:
Really great great pics!!! Thanks for posting them up!
My pleasure Randy! Glad you enjoyed them..
I enjoyed these, too; thanks.
Glad you enjoyed them Rrumbler
Good to see that you are an "Equal Opportunity Poster", Mike - - - - don't want the Bowties or Blue Ovals to not get equal time. hahahahaha
Yeah, those old car carriers had the cars on top totally exposed, and riding high. We lived in the little town of Noel, MO when I was a kid, and at the time Highway 71 ran by town along the river, a narrow two lane roadway, and there's a bluff that hangs over the highway right at Noel. If you're headed south, that lane has considerably lower clearance than the northbound lane, and it was not unusual for a truck driver that was not familiar with the road to scrape the tops of the cars riding that top position - at night sparks would fly if you happened to be in the right place at the right time;). This picture is looking north, years before they put a guard rail on the river side.

WOW! Do you know if it is still like that? With the overhang I mean.. That has a "fantastic" look about it.. certainly not something you see everyday.
Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for the reply Edward G. P.! Good to see your post and hope you have a great holiday!
Since I'm looking forward to having a hangover soon after belting down a few bloody mary's, I thought I'd post a local hangover ...errr I mean over hang.
This one is a couple miles from my home along Gulph Road in Lower Merion Township, and let me go on record to say I'm pissed about how they ruined a historic rock just so stupid people don't crash into it. I figure pretty soon some assinine committee is going to remove the Statue of Liberty's right arm since it might get in the way of low flying aircraft or birds:

It's the same the whole world over . . . and 'they' (the nameless faceless bureaucrats,) have the temerity to call it 'progress'.(!?!?)
Thanks for the ultra kool pix,34-40.. Real good stuff..:cool:
I'm glad you enjoyed it Lammy! It was my pleasure to share'em!!
