3 pm and it 78 in the shade.

78 I haven't even seen 50. we were 41 today started the big melt but Friday we start all over with 20s so all the water out there will soon be ICE.
We're in a big warmup here, strong south winds bringing warmth up from the Gulf of Mexico & Texas. Very low 60's this afternoon, upper 50's as the sun has set. The Farmer's Almanac says we'll see strong snows in March.....
OOOOOoooo... Open the eastern gate Roger.... send me some of that warmth!!! LOL..
New Bedford is supposed to be above freezing for at least the next 10 days...I'll trade ya.

So we got a lil bit of wet heavy stuff today. Not bad....then...
The sun went down & the brreze picked up. The road to work was pure ice.
So I was coming home ssllooowly... About 1/2 mile down the road was a cop with cherries on, in the other lane...this is a decent hill...
There was what at 1 time a very nice SUV... on its roof in the ditch!!
So 25-30mph was ok & controllable. Another 1/2 mile down were the rescue squad coming in to help. 3 ambulances, a fire truck & 3 more state & county cops.
Moral--
4 wheel drive doesnt necessarily mean no problems!!
Ya still gotta be smart to be safe!!
The drive in @ 3:00am will be sslllooow but safe-- thats why I will leave an hour before I normally do!!

Just when the locals were kabitchin about drought, and Gobberner Jerry Brown was talking about no water for farmers or people, we get .5 inches of rain in 2 hours! Politicians!
At 1 PM yesterday the temp was 63 degrees, this morning we have a combination of snow, sleet, and rain all over everything! Got to be Mother Nature's idea of a really sick April Fools Joke!!!!-----and I was just getting in the mood for some yard work----------NOT!!!!!!!!!:LOL::LOL::LOL:
My first job under the heading of "yard work" will be cleaning up after the dogs now that the snow is gone.. but after the flood rains we just had, most of it washed away! YIPPEE!!! :LOL:**):LOL:**):LOL:
We got 1.1 inches of rain yesterday with another inch on the way today. Lake Sonoma is now at 74% capacity(good), and Lake Mendocino is only 48%(bad), important because we get our water from there during the summer. Hopefully this storm will keep on filling them! Our rainfall totals are 10 inches since last July, normal would be 24.5"(the ugly) by now. But the Pineapple express(rain from Hawaii) is helping! :)
We've been getting some light rain but there's still a good amount of frost in the ground so most of the moisture we are getting just runs off and isn't helping.
At our Monday morning world problem solving conference ( Coffee at the 2nd St. Diner) I was reminded of how last winter finally ended---We had 4" of snow on Tuesday and had to start mowing lawns by the weekend, first weekend of May! This year is starting to look the same, high of 43 today, then snow and windy tonight and tomorrow.....
Yeah, we'll see if we get 5" of snow in May again. I bet it isn't over either. We won't get off that easy. :LOL:
15th of April----so far today it has warmed up to 19 degrees....Not sure this winter crap is ever going to end!!!!!!
We were 80F on Saturday, about blew away Sunday with lightning & thunder rolling across the plains, and Monday awoke to 30F and snow showers. Today was 26F as the sun was coming up, up to a balmy 37F now.... Springtime in Kansas, lots of variety.Quote:

Pretty typical day here in So cal... 8:45 am and right at 66 degrees F. Its been a bit warm this last week but should be cooling to the 80's for the next few weeks. Wish I had weather to talk about like the rest of you. I did stay up and watch the Blood moon last night! How unique is that? :eek:
It was 88-90 degrees in Fresno yesterday at my Uncle's Funeral. My black suit is wool, so being a palbearer in the sun caused quite a bit of sweat! Sad to see him go, but it was a beautiful day for him to be interned.:(

I had to drive a couple hours to a project and between the wind gusts and the on and off rain bursts it has been a stressful day so far!

Thanks again,back to the weather! In Petaluma a nice 72ish today with blue skies and a light breeze, wish it was raining some more, but if you can't have water, sun is pretty good. I feel sorry for Dave with the top temps in the teens!
