Farmhouse Ale's Gettin' Close
Checked on the Farmhouse Ale that cooked 2/11 and it's still fermenting a bit, giving me a bubble of CO2 in the air lock about every 40 seconds. This is a clone of Boulevard's product that's in their specialty brews called The Smokestack Ales. The target for this one is 8.25%ABV, so it'll have a bit of a "kick"A "true" Farmhouse Ale was more in the two percent range, so the farm hands could have a cold one with lunch, or during a steamy afternoon, but not be falling off the tractor and getting hurt!!

Had a couple of friends out last night, and while the wives visited we had a little "tasting party", sampling an ESB, a Robust Stout, a clone of Boulevard's Chocolate Ale, a "Wee Heavy" Scottish Ale (6.25%) and finishing with a Belgian Black which is a clone of New Belgium's 1554 Ale that's been in the bottle three weeks. The "samples" were ~4oz each, to see which one they wanted with dinner. Good times!!

Enjoy the little things in life, and you may look back one day and realize that they were really the BIG things.
I did not know Mike very well, we exchanged some messages from time to time but from what I understand he was a very good man. I was sad to learn about this
