Sprint Car Hall of Fame and Museum

We never have had a circle burner section here on CHR, so I'll just post this here and hope some of the other roundy round racers see it.

If you're ever heading across I-80 in the Des Moines, Ia. area and have any interest at all in dirt tracking, the Knoxville museum should be on your list of stops!!! Some really great cars there on display, the display changes once or twice a year---with the exception of our rebuild of Daryl Dawley's Super Mod which we took there 4 years ago----and they still won't let us come get it!!!!:LOL::LOL::LOL: (Scheduled to go to the Speedway Museum in Lincoln, Ne. next.)

Anyway, the site also has it's own online store that is packed full of books, pictures, artwork, etc. all commemorating some of the greats in open wheel racing!

Dave, I'm not far from there let me know when you're in the area again. I'll meet ya at the Rib Shack next door and maybe you can show me around the museum after some lunch as I've never been in it. Been to the track a few times, but never had the time to stop in the museum.

Usually go to the Sprint and Late Model Nationals, not sure who all locally will be running at Knoxville this year but I try to get down there two or three times every summer prior to the Nationals..... For 3 years we raced there every Saturday night, a 350 mile tow each way from here, also raced in Rapid City on Friday nights, 375 mile tow from here. We were MUCH younger and really loved sprint car racing!!!!!!:LOL::LOL: 1500 miles a weekend towing!

I had two very good friends killed there in the same wreck---didn't go back there racing again for many years after that.

By the way Ryan, should you ever run across an old sprinter from back in the 60's or 70's that raced at Knoxville or some of the other tracks around here we're always looking for another sprinter to restore!

Ok, I'll ask a guy I know. His name is Bob Lamb, he raced a 305 sprinter there for a while. He may even have one of his older cars as he used to race 360 many years ago.
