That is an interesting post thanks Mello.. I didn't notice any " small " steering wheels though but will freely admit that I wouldn't know how to drive any of those cars where you have to retard or advance the ignition to make it go let alone any of those other knobs one could play with. On the same note of steering wheels, I still have trouble understand what the attraction of stock diameter wheels that people have on their hot rods, eg. a chopped channel coupe with the tiniest opening for a windscreen with a full size '40 Ford steering wheel to peer through.
Not as fancy but I sure like the stocker in my Fairlane

yeah that is a nice looking wheel and with no power steering you would appreciate the larger wheel . I had a small 13" dia. wheel on my '59 many years ago and the only time I cursed it was when I had to back into a parallel park but then once done and back cruising the streets, one forgot the heavy steering when parking.
that little Fairlane's stock steering is almost like power - - - hard to believe how easy it handles
Must admit that now we have air bags in steering wheels and just about everywhere else they can hide them, the modern steering wheel has lost it's collectablity like the wheels from the fifties and sixties.
Back when the auto builders still had designers on the payroll and did more then kick out look-a-likes with absolutely zero personality!!!!!
