That is simply amazing! I just did a quick scan of the on-line auction listings and it's nothing but awesome! Some on-off parts there, and the array of cars! Amazing!

A couple years back I was having a conversation with a young buck about our hobby. He was bemoaning the parts supply of neat ol' stuff. He was shocked and somewhat disbelieving when I said that it was better today than 25-30 years ago. He just couldn't imagine how that could be so. I replied, "because the guys who were hoarding this stuff in the past 50 or so years are dying and their families just need to get rid of all pop's ol' junk!" I may have underestimated just how much stuff is yet to pop.............
I'd love to attend such a auction in person. Its a shame that some guys have these cars that they hope to "someday" work on just to leave them outside and uncovered instead of selling them (or at least covering) to someone that might actually do something with them.
My first employer had a 57 chevy convertible with every option available for that year (coolest was the "Wonder bar" radio with dual antennas and the power bench seat) sitting out in his back field. It was in rough shape at that time in the late 70's. I begged him to sell it to me many times. The top was gone and weeds were growing all around it. He would just say he will get to it someday. I would drive by every now and then and it sat for 20 years outside and uncovered. When he died, the kids sold the place and the car too. I'm sure it was a rusted out P.O.S. by that time. What a pity....
Saw on Facebook the other day a guy mentioned that he knew a fellow in Arkansas that had a collection of 300 flathead intakes representing much of the aftermarket performance options of the day. A response was posted that he indeed has the collection, but that it now numbers at least 350 manifolds, and that "...most of them are now for sale!" I guess that this collector, unlike most, decided to cash in on his hobby himself rather than have his kids saddled with selling stuff that they had no interest in keeping.Quote:
